HBO adds Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson to Watchmen series cast

05.23.2018

After sharing a lengthy and, some would say "pleading" letter about the nature of his upcoming WATCHMEN series for HBO, Damon Lindelof and the premiere cable network have announced that some major star power is being added to the pilot for a brand-new take on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' gritty comic book classic.

The impressive list begins with THE LEFTOVERS alum Regina King (RAY, ENEMY OF THE STATE), and continues with the additions of Don Johnson (MIAMI VICE, DJANGO UNCHAINED), Tim Blake Nelson (O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?), Louis Gosset Jr. (ROOTS, AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN), Adelaide Clemens (RECTIFY) and Andrew Hoard (HATFIELDS AND MCCOYS). For the moment, details about who they will be playing are unknown.

When Lindelof's WATCHMEN series arrives, the LOST and TOMORROWLAND creative will introduce fans of the iconic superhero series to an alternate history where "superheroes" are regarded as outlaws. The new series is said to take cues from the original source material, but will mostly feature new characters and stories set in the WATCHMEN universe.

Lindelof wrote the script for the pilot with Tom Spezialy and Nicole Kassell. The comic book drama will be presented via Lindelof's White Rabbit banner and Warner Bros. Television, with Kassell acting as director for the pilot.

For more details about WATCHMEN, be sure to read Lindelof's letter to the fans, which was posted to his personal Instagram account, yesterday afternoon.
