I've got some good news for all of you Deadwood fans out there. Sources tell TV Line that there have been new talks between HBO and creator David Milch about possibly doing a movie, and last night star Garret Dillahunt ("Jack McCall" and "Francis Wolcott") tweeted that he's also heard rumblings of a Deadwood flick. When asked to comment, an HBO spokesperson confirmed that "very preliminary conversations" have begun about making a small screen movie.

After running for three seasons, the Western TV series was cancelled in 2006, and although HBO had announced two two-hour films, they never materialized as planned. Many (including yours truly) consider Deadwood to be one of the best television dramas of all time, and I'm definitely down for more, even if it is just one movie to close out the series. Do you think a Deadwood film will actually happen?

'Deadwood' started off strong but plain and simply ran out of steam and got the axe. I didn't feel like i was robbed of a conclusion because the story really wasn't going anywhere. I'm fine to let it end how it did although dont mind more McShane as Swergen.

I can appreciate why some people liked it, but even more so why it got cancelled.

Showrunner David Milch was a alcohol and drug abuser (has since cleaned up) and seriously difficult to work with as the show progressed. For the final season people would show up on set without a script or direction of the season and Milch would just improve dialogue and scenes. It became a headache for HBO as it was extremely expensive to maintain the production budget and so when the ratings started falling, they canned it.
