Hear The Lizard speak in this featurette for The Amazing Spider-Man

The Lizard speaks!

Up to this point I wasn't really sure if The Lizard would actually speak or be a mindless beast in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, but it appears he will ssspppeeeaak, as is demonstrated in this new featurette for the upcoming film.  Played by Rhys Ifan, The Lizard, aka Curt Conners, first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #6 in 1963 and has been a staple villain for the webhead ever since.

Liisssttteen Up:

It seems that Sony has opened the floodgates of promotional material with numerous clips, images, products, and featurettes like this one.  With such a massive onslaught it's hard to discern if Sony is in panic mode or if it's just business as usual.  If you'll recall when JOHN CARTER hit troubled marketing waters a similar thing happened; new trailers, clips, etc. began hitting daily, like a series of blows from Neo after he becomes one with the Matrix.

I'll leave it up to you to discuss the pros and cons of The Lizard's voice and mannerisms below...

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN swings into action on July 3, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Rumors are swirling that Marc Webb may not return for the inevitable sequel. So, who do we want to see sitting in the director's chair for another venture, Schmoes?

I'm not on the hate train for this film, but it looks (and sounds) underwhelming. Does not feel epic in scope, a bit too generic. I feel I'm proven wrong, but Rhys Ifans and Tom Hardy have very different levels of intensity.

It isn't very impressive, but that's something everyone has said now for a long time. However, I'll give the movie this: it looks fun. It could never hope to match the quality of many other superhero movies, especially considering Marvel's impressive stable and the Nolan Batman films, but it looks like a reasonably entertaining diversion, and something to push the excellent Rhys Ifans more into public consciousness.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this movie... And it looks like they decided to show the entire movie through trailers, clips and featurettes. I'm not sure about the Lizard, not a big fan of the look and the CGI...
Still, there's enough interesting bits for me to go and see how it all comes together...

Nope.

Anyone else relieved that after watching the trailers and shit like this that you don't need to waste $18 to see this, since you have seen the whole thing already for free?

I want to like this, Andrew Garfield deserves a good action movie. I have seen nothing that even looks like they attempted to put effort into this.

Why would Sony panic? I mean, it's Spider-Man. They can sell the movie on his name alone. I'm sure their hope is for it to be a good movie, but at the end of the day that doesn't matter. All that matters is that people pay to see it. Which they will. Because it's Spider-Man.

I've tried to keep an open mind but the Lizard just isn't working for me at all. If the villain is weak or silly looking, that kills everything. Plus, I can count five movies they ripped off in that clip alone. The only original thing I see is the Lizard and like I said, weak.

David Fincher, but at this point in his career it would be way below him.

Who remembers that Dinosaur tv show from the early 90s? Yeah, that's what the Lizard reminded me of in that clip. Saw that and just thought of the dad from that Dinosaur show.
