Helen Mirren has a big head in the poster for The Debt

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

If THE DEBT seems familiar, that’s because it was supposed to come out last year but got caught up in the Miramax business shift (as did DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK) before Focus grabbed it for release.

Now we’ll see Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington in different time frames tracking down Nazi war criminals. The movie (a remake of the 2007 Israeli film) comes from SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE director John Madden, with a script by X-MEN: FIRST CLASS director Matthew Vaughn and his writing partner Jane Goldman.

You can check out the trailer below the new one-sheet.

The synopsis: In this espionage thriller, shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren) and Stefan (two-time Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds). Back in 1966, the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain, Marton Csokas, and Sam Worthington [“Avatar,” “Clash of the Titans”]) tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team’s mission was accomplished – or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations.
