Here are the nominees for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards!

Jul. 18, 2013by: Niki Stephens

Within the past few years, there's been a great resurgence in television. Shows like BREAKING BAD, GAME OF THRONES, HOMELAND, MAD MEN, LOUIE, and many more has given the box office some competition. The list of nominees for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards have recognized all the above shows and added a couple of surprises.

I'm happy to see all the nominations for BREAKING BAD and GAME OF THRONES. Jonathan Banks gets a nom for his role in BREAKING BAD as Mike, and Anna Gunn gets a well deserved nom for her performance as Skyler. Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage have been recognized for their badassness on GAME OF THRONES. I'm also happy to see the love for HOUSE OF CARDS, and the animated programs REGULAR SHOW and BOB'S BURGERS.

THE WALKING DEAD is noticably abscent this year but do you think they deserved any noms? I just want to point out that THE AMERICANS are missing from the list as well. Check out the list below and to see the rest head here.

Bummed about The Americans.

Matthew Rhys gave one of the most compelling performances this season in my opinion. Keri Russel was good too but not against this level of competition... although both are moot since Breaking Bad should sweep in my opinion, it still would have been nice for some love for the show and Rhys. Also was confused about Tony Hale thinking it was for AD (his character has almost no screen time) but then I realized he is on Veep too. Someone add the shows they're nominated for on here please!

Hopefully

Drama: Breaking Bad
Comedy: Louis
Drama Actor: Bryan Cranston
Drama Supporting Actor: Peter Dinklage
Comedy Actor: Jason Bateman
Comedy Supporting Actor: Bill Hader
And given Benedict Cumberbatch an Emmy to go with the Oscar he is going to win for the Fifth Estate! Cumberbatch is about to make a move into the big time main stream movie star status that he has deserved for years!

GO HoC!

I was worried the brilliant House of Cards would be left out of the race because of its web series status but this is great to see just the opposite. The only omissions I would point out is a supporting actor nomination for Corey Stoll whose performance in HoC is amazing to watch, and a writing nomination for the same series. I'm rooting for House of Cards, Louie and Regular Show to take home as many trophies as they can!

Wait a minute! h's comment reminds me: where the heck is Hannibal? It is one of the best shows on network television and the performances and direction are brilliantly suspenseful and gut-wrenching. Part of me thinks maybe the emmys are getting some kind of kick back from the paid service providers as only one show in the drama category airs on local TV-Downton Abbey on PBS. It may sound like more conspiracy theory but I doubt any of us would be surprised.

Battlestar had a prequel movie (and web series) called "Blood and Chrome" I think that's what the nomination is for.

Hopefully this will finally be the year Jon Hamm wins Best Actor. The guy has lost for each season he has been nominated for and it's about time the Academt gave him the award already for his excellent work.

Good list, lots of competition. But I have feeling for Drama, it will come down to Breaking Bad and House of Cards. Don't get me wrong I love GOT and Mad Men too, but sci-fi/fantasy rarely win with the Emmy voters, and Mad Men has been slacking a bit the past 2 seasons, definitely not at the same calibre as Breaking Bad and House of Cards. I do however hope Peter Dinklage wins, by far one of the best actors out there. And to answer Niki's question, no I don't think Walking Dead deserved any

The shows that were nominated were by far better written and told a far superior story. Season 3, while I did like it, had to spend a lot of time doing damage control for the bad writing of season 2 and left on a very lackluster note in the finale. The other shows nominated told really captivating stories and engaged the audience from beginning to end.

Completely unfunny but the live audience or laugh track completely kills it for me. If they were to do the same show with the same jokes but just update it to the current (not cheesy) way of making sitcoms, it might be great......but alas....we will never know because Big Bang Theory is too worried its' HUGE audience won't know when the punch line is if they don't clue them in

Really tough competition, but even so, Hannibal was absolutely robbed.

Breaking Bad

Glad to see all the nominations for the best show on TV, IMO. I won't be satisfied though until Bryan Cranston takes home Emmy #4. I thought he should've gotten it last year, but unfortunately he didnt. Can't wait for the final eight episodes. I am disappointed though for the no love Justified got, no disrespect for those other actors but one of the nominees should be Olyphant as he is one of the best going on TV today as the coolest character on TV as Raylan Givens.

Ludicrous(and I don't mean the wannabe actor)

How is the highest rated scripted show on tv not nominated in any way? It makes zero sense to me that it gets snubbed and a show like American Horror Story gets noms. If you're one of those people that thinks the show is overrated..apparently millions of people disagree with you. But, you can join your fellow Emmy Committee members in thinking you're right.

The people complaining about Hannibal being snubbed: it only just premiered in April, so I do not think it is eligible for this years nominations. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Half of the season was eligible. No really. Half of the episodes aired until the due date. The show made it to the ballots (they were available online).

Then which season of Mad Men is being nominated? Didn't season 6 just end like 2 weeks ago? Same with Breaking Bad, does this mean the final 5 episodes can be nominated for an Emmy next year since they're airing after the deadline?

Didn't know Peter Dinklage was considered a supporting actor - he's the lead on that show in my opinion. Also, no love for Mike Ehrmantraut (Mike from Breaking Bad). The actor gave an amazing performance this past season. And no Dexter love.

Dexter is still very much worth watching! The last season was pretty good, in my opinion. And I think Dinklage is considered supporting actor because the show has so many characters in all ready.

This last Season of Dexter kind of brought things up since the last two. And the current one is doing pretty well too. I agree though, it has gotten worse since The Trinity Killer season.

What the ...

Michelle Fairly not nominated? What the ... Her performance in the Red Wedding episode was outstanding. But Emile Clarke got a nomination? Dany didn't really do anything in this season, as usual, most overrated character on the show/books. The dragons should get one tho.

I agree. I'm surprised how few realize the show has gone downhill. I've said it before, I wish they would just conclude it properly, rather than see it continue to spiral into mediocrity. Season 3 felt like most other TV programs out there, no longer anything special about it.

I'm thinking you're both reacting to the lame finale. Aside from that I think the season was a bit stonger than 2.

But I don't think the show has EVER been Emmy worthy.

@Bigger Boat- If you have to justify that this season was good because it was better than last, and that the finale (arguably one of the most important episodes of a tv show) was lame, but the rest of the season made up for it, the criticism is justified.

On a side note; no, the finale did not make up for this season. I haven't felt the show has been any good since Rick was reunited with Lori and Carl in the first season. It's all been downhill since.

No, actually I'm referring to pretty much the whole season. But I want to clarify that it's not a terrible show - it has a lot going for it. However, everything it does right, it counters with something asinine, resorts to convention and predictability, or fails in simple execution.

Agree with what you guys are saying. The Walking Dead is slipping into the area of mediocrity. If you stack the entire season against another show like Breaking Bad or House of Cards or even GOT, and simply looking at the ability to tell an engaging story for the audience, The Walking Dead just struggles for most of the season.

@wwallace, you said it perfectly that when they do something really cool and interesting on the show, they follow it up with something very predictable or just

@wwallace, you said it perfectly that when they do something really cool and interesting on the show, they follow it up with something very predictable or just not entertaining. I mean, they spent almost 6 episodes building up to this war with the governor, and by the time they go there I didn't really care anymore because I felt they dragged it on too much.

I'll be surprised if Spacey doesn't win for House of Cards.

Great to see Adam Driver get recognized. He's the best part about Girls and his arc is arguably the only thing worth watching in Season two.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries....

Wow, there's some BIG hitters....

It'd be more helpful to mention who's getting nominated for what you know.

I think Michelle Fairly, who plays Catelyn Stark, should have gotten an emmy nom for her powerful performance during the Red Wedding.
