Here's a few images from The Dark Knight Rises to brighten your day

May. 11, 2012by:

A few new images from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES have found their way online, giving us a look at the three main players, Batman, Catwoman, and Bane.  Tom Hardy is looking sufficiently psycho in the Bane image, while Anne Hathaway looks exceptionally sexy as she cocks a pistol.  Christian Bale, well...he looks like Batman, which is good enough.

We seem to get really wrapped up in imagery of the villains for films like this, but it would be nice to see some images of the titular hero that aren't your standard just standing around.  We've seen very little of Batman in action, aside from the artwork for the film, so I'm a little underwhelmed with the lack of caped crusader imagery (although the skyline shot in the recent trailer was pretty sweet).

Anyway, here's those images:

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES on July 20, 2012.  I guess I'll go see it.

Extra Tidbit: What is your favorite iconic moment of Batman on film? I've always been particular to the '89 film where he crashed through the ceiling window of the art museum. You?

Crashing through the cieling was what it is in 89, but also when Wayne stood up admist the bats in conquering and embracing his fears...that was my favorite of the new franchise. Hopefully the new underwhelming trailers don't say much of how the movie will actually turn out.

Extra tidbit: For me, it's the ending of Batman Forever where Batman and Robin run alongside together towards the camera with the silhouette of Bat Signal in the background. I got goosebumps.

"Hey, who is this guy?"

"Check his wallet!"

I love that entire portion of the film, from the art museum, to the fight in the streets, to the drive to the Batcave.

It's also really hard to top the interrogation scene from TDK.

Easy ...

I love Batman, easily my favorite hero and I'm a huge fan of anything that pertains to him and The Joker. That said, my favorite actual scene with them is easily the interrogation scene in TDK.

BUT ... I'm not sure any movie has ended with me so amped as Batman Begins when ...

"Take this guy. Armed Robbery, double homicide ... He has a taste of the theatrical like you. Leaves a calling card."

(The Joker card is flipped over)

"I'll look into it."

I instantly couldn't wait

Not to sound like an ass but I always thought #2 was lame simply because he doesn't do anything after he catches her in the air. They just land on top of a car after dropping several stories and are perfectly fine. Could've used his grappling hook or something.

Best Bat Moment

The best Batman moment I can think of is in "Mask of the Phantasm" when Bruce first dons the cowl. When Alfred goes "My God", you can feel the immensity and meaning of that moment.

Batmobile + Vicky + Elfman

One of my fav is the ride to the Batcave with Vicky. Nothing special per se, but add Elfman's "Descent into mystery" then you get iconic !

That first pic: Looks like someone asked Bane to solve a Rubiks cube. Or he just saw Catwomans outfit for the first time.

Great memories on this thread, but to add one, The Joker pulling out his gun while the Batwing is gunnng for him in the first Tim Burton movie is pretty special.

Also "Batdance"

In TDK where he times that jump in the parking garage & smashes the roof of Scarecrow's getaway van. Pretty epic, imo.

Keaton

Keaton's Batman in his first fight scene - he did this cool roll along the ground, got up and kicked the shit out of the bad guy! Actually, Burton really set the standard for the fight choreography style.

The "batman driving vicky to the batcave" in '89 is just plain awesome. One of my fav momenets.

Another cool momement is in TDK when Bruce chokes out Harvey at the party and says "They've come for him" not in Bruce Waynes voice but in Batmans. It was neat just to see how he into character (Batman) he becomes all of a sudden, or out of character depending how you look at it.

The ending in TDK, with Gordon's monologue, and Batman riding off on his Bat-pod into the daylight. Moved me to tears for some reason.

Gotta agree with BlueEyedRomulus

My first favourite Bat-moment on film. And the moment I've wanted to see properly re-created (and it was a few times in the animated series)...is the awesome back-fist (bat-fist?) from the first Burton movie.

The death of the Penguin from Batman Returns is pretty memorable for me, with the penguins guiding his body to their palace. That and the scene where Catwoman fries Christopher Walken.

2 Tidbits

Michael Keaton as Batman in the '89 o-ridge flying the Batwing up to the full-moon and showing the bat silhouette in all it's glory.

And Batman saving the day from the Joker who has just told whats-her-face, "You got a little fight in you, I like that..."

And Bale as Batman cuts in: "Then you're gonna love me!" BAM! POW! BLANG!

Its a toss up between the end scene from Batman with Batman on top of a building looking at the Batsignal with Elfman's iconic theme playing, or the scene in The Dark Knight where he's flying/gliding across the top of all the buildings in Hong Kong.

The first time Bruce went to the batcave with a flashlight and suddenly overwhelmed by hundreds of bats surrounding him, but then he slowly stands up, widens his both hands and with close eyes begin to relish their presence. The whole batpod in TDK was a surprise for me. I thought it would be a gimmicky vehicle and instead it turned out to be awesomesauce on wheels. The entire "Dent transport" scene pretty much owned, thanks largely to that motorized bicycle. Good stuff.

I am still very excited for Rises. I loved Avengers, and I think there is room for both movies!
I actually love Batman in all his forms, from gritty realism to fun camp, but Tims 2 films are still my faves. But that doesnt take anything away from Nolans films. They are still great movies!

I just realized there is absolutely no point for Batman to be standing on top of shit, as realistically he can't see shit from up top there and whatever 'crime' may be happening. All done for pure awesomeness though, can't argue that however.
