Here's another look at the new suit Chris Evans will be wearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

2 years agoby:

It's hard to dispute how cool the costume is for Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier. But what about the suit that Chris Evans gets this time around for the sequel, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER? It feels a little less...patriotic. I'm not asking to get 'MURICA all over everyone's asses, but maybe a dash of red would be nice. He is Captain America.

By no means do I think it's terrible. I figured that a new suit was inevitable. THE AVENGERS suit was closer to the actual comic depiction but many felt that it came off a little corny. The concept image was sent in by a reader of Comicbookmovie.com who calls himself Flint. It looks to be the real deal too especially after getting another look at these early set photos.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER releases on April 4, 2014.

Compare both suits below:

Apolgies, my American brethren and sistren, but Captain America is about as exciting as that new costume design. I'm not hating because he is "THE symbol of America" but because I think he's by far one of the dullest superheroes around. Also, his solo movie was the weakest of the bunch in my opinion. On par with Iron Man 2 I'd say.

To be honest, I didn't really have a problem with the suit in The Avengers. I just got what Whedon was doing, he was trying to literally put the comic on screens. I admit, it did look a little silly given the suit he wore in Cap1, almost like he was wearing his Captain Pyjamas.

But I think this suit is a major step up! It looks awesome, it's way more [link] and just plain looks cool! I always though the Steve Rogers costume from the comics (which this is adapted from) was way better than

I always though the Steve Rogers costume from the comics (which this is adapted from) was way better than the Cap costume, and it kind of ticked me off when Steve Rogers became Captain America again he started wearing the Captain America costume again. I always wanted him to keep this costume when he became Captain America again. Major thumbs up to Marvel for doing it in the movies anyway.

I don't like the font of the 'A', either suit. I always liked the fatter 'A'.

I prefer the build of the new design - looks more armored, but it could do with the read and white stripes reinstating.

Itís definitely more in keeping with the WW2 suit from First Avenger - me likes it a lot. The one used in Avengers Assemble.... just ...just looked really goofy - think it was the helmet. The dramatic scene when Loki was about to vaporize those poor Germans...and Captain America triumphantly lands to stop the evil tyrant...or when Cap leads Hawkeye and Widow in the hanger towards the climatic showdown ...the whole coolness of those scenes was let down by that goofy looking helmet. I caught

I caught myself giggling when I should have been going... that's a cool scene. Personally, gave off the same vibe as when I saw Fassbender wearing the comic book Magneto threads at the end of First Class. Sometimes it isn't necessary to go all out comic book on us fan boys - most of us are understanding human beings and will let some things slide :o).

The new one is closer to the suit Rogers wears in the current comics. After he 'died', he came back as simply Steve Rogers, and headed SHIELD. The Cap suit went to Bucky, and Rogers just stayed as Rogers, without the helmet. I like it. Didn't really like the Avengers Cap suit, but the WW2 suit was great. The Winter Soldier suit looks dead on to the comics. Hopefully Stan can pull off the tortured soul that Bucky becomes.

I love it

It looks more militaristic and even though it lacks red, his shield has a shit load of red on it and it contrasts well.

Secret Avengers Costume

It's actually a legit costume from the Secret Avengers run that they did. Given what happens in that story arc it will be interesting to see if that's the dierction they take in the movies...

I like it also, doesn't look too cartoonish & more realistic, now I can take him more seriously. In the comics it can look as cheesy as they want, but not in movies.

Not sure - but shouldnt he look more American? I mean Cap wears the flag - that was supposed to be the theory right? So not sure why some are bothered by having more colors - its THE FLAG! I am Canadian, but even I want the American flag colors! I liked his WW2 costume and Avengers.

I like it

I prefer the 'Murica threads obviously, I mean it's Cap, but if he's working more low-key S.H.I.E.L.D espionage missions then I guess it makes sense for him not to be so bright and colourful?

....ahah OK that makes no sense, he has a fucking A on his head, a star on his chest and carries a bright as shit shield. But still it's nice to see him what seems to be a more militarised company uniform, I mean if he's working for shield at this point it would make sense for his kit to fit the

The suit in avengers bothered me

I like the suit it makes more sense. Yeah it has less red, but the boots and gloves look tactical. The helmet if it indeed has a chin strap makes so much sense, why have a helmet/mask that comes off with a right cross. There is an A on his forehead, the SHIELD and star on chest. Now that the world has dealt with Aliens he can be less throwback.

Don't Care For...

the new threads. I agree with Spike 45...the shield just doesn't match up to the threads. I liked the one in the first movie myself, even the one in Avengers beats this one.

This movie is going to bomb. They will need a re-boot after this. He is just a silly character and they haven't done the homework of updating him. Just too fn silly.

Yeah because a man jumping on rooftops at night in a bat suit with a woman dressed as a cat is not silly. These are comic books man. These are worlds that don't exist. They're fantasy. You're suppose to suspend disbeliefe.

Doesn't fit

His shield is too flashy now for that bland costume. Looks out of place

Actually it makes the suit stand out more because it looks like it goes together.

most if not all outfits from comics are corny, but corny is acceptable in the comic books and cartoons not in a live action setting.

Guys, it could be worse. It could have nipples.

Personally my favorite was the WW2 suit, but I can certainly get down with this look as well.

the ww2 suit was the best i think because it was bulky. putting a tight suit on him makes him seem smaller . i think this is probably his 'spy' suit and he will be back with red on in the avengers 2 if they are openly doing super heroics again

Isn't that the point of the character? To look like THE symbol of America? Never too much 'Murica when it comes to Captain America.

The biggest problem I think we all had with Caps suit in the avengers movie was that damn mask/helmet. If you make the Avengers suit not as bright, and give him this new suits helmet, then i think it might work. But I like the new suit, its the one he wore when he was head of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I like the new suit. It looks updated and very Shieldish. I enjoy seeing all the different suits and modifications that for each different suit that Captain has worn.

If I had to pick my favorite suit though, it would definitely be the suit he wore in Avengers. It was just the suit that celebrated the comic book the most and it looked pretty badass.
