Here's more on Adam Sandler's comedic western, Ridiculous 6

Oct. 26, 2012by: Niki Stephens

I told you I'd have more news on this soon enough.

Yesterday, there was news that Adam Sandler was going to do a comedic western for his next film. That was also the only detail we had on the topic. Now there's a title and a look into what the film will be about.

Now I think we know too much.

The title of the comedic western is RIDICULOUS 6. Does the title give you any hints about the plot? Well if nothing is ringing a bell, think of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. John Sturges's film centered on seven gunfighters brought in to defend a small Mexican village. The plot will get a twist from Sandler and co-writer, Tim Herlihy.

Herlihy ain't so bad. He helped Sandler on all of his great films. I definitely think this is a step in a better direction if Sandler is going to keep pumping out a new comedy once a year.

The film is set to release in theaters during Spring Break of 2014.

Those bad review headlines will just write themselves, won't they?

If the other 5 guys are Kevin James, Rob Schnider, David Spade, Nick Swardson, and Chris Rock, than I have no hope for this since it'll probably be the same stale jokes from Sandler's last few films. If they get some other actors Sandler hasn't worked with before, I think an ensemble comedy like this could work. The description, though brief, made me think of Three Amigos, which I like.

I'm guessing it's going to end up being a romantic comedy somehow.

They should cast Sandler in Expendables 3 where the entire Expendables teams waterboards Sandler for the entire movie. Seriously who the fuck keeps letting this guy make and star in movies. He gives a new meaning to the word assclown.

There is only one man who can save Adam Sandler.

Answer: PT Anderson. A director with so much faith and confidence in Sandler in which got out of this goofball his best career performance and most unlikely career performance still to this day.

I don't know. Sandler hasn't had a great track record for good movies in a while. I guess we'll see.

3 Amigos Anyone?

This could turn out well, I mean look at 3 Amigos! You can have comedies set in a faux-western town that work. I know everyone here hates Sandler but I don't get how people don't see that there is a lot of heart in his movies. Yes there are gross out moments, but why do people accept those moments in Hangover but when Sandler does it everyone hates him.

Most of the movies that Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy have collaborated on have been great (Mr. Deeds and Bedtime Stories are the only ones I didn't care about), he's also the guy responsible for many (if not all) of Sandler's SNL sketches so this news pleases me. As a longtime fan of 90's Adam Sandler I have hope. Of course I haven't seen one frame of footage so for all I know this could be Wild Wild West meets Grown Ups, but hey, a man can dream.
