Here's yet another great trailer for The Double starring Jesse Eisenberg

Boy, this movie looks absolutely fascinating. Talking about THE DOUBLE, the darkly comedic mind*ck from SUBMARINE director Richard Ayode. (Here's our review from TIFF if you missed it last year.) Starring Jesse Eisenberg as a man who is inexplicably confronted with his doppelgänger, THE DOUBLE has presented us with not one, not two, but now three splendid trailers, each one brimming with creepy, mysterious (not to mention humorous) atmosphere. Check out the latest one below:

Magnolia Pictures will release THE DOUBLE in theaters and on iTunes/OnDemand May 9th. The film has a tremendous supporting cast, including Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Yasmin Paige, Noah Taylor, James Fox, Cathy Moriarty, Chris O'Dowd, Sally Hawkins, Craig Roberts and Paddy Considine.

The synopsis:

Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite - confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.

Extra Tidbit: Let's not confuse this with ENEMY, which sees Jake Gyllenhaal squaring off against himself (although that looks pretty good too).

Mini IT Crowd reunion

This looks like a stellar follow up to the wonderfully funny "Submarine" and on a side note, it was really nice to catch a brief glimpse of Chris O'Dowd ("Roy") and Chris Morris ("Denholm Reynholm") who, along with Ayoade, gave us one of the funniest comedy shows of the past decade. Would it be too much to hope for a small part for Katherine Parkinson? A Noel Fielding cameo? Dammit, now I gotta go binge on the IT Crowd on Netflix.

This film looks really good. Can't wait.

I noticed a couple of interesting names in the credits. I didn't realize Michael Caine was an executive producer on this film, or that the script was co-written by Harmony Korine's brother, Avi Korine. I think this movie looks very interesting and appears to be an impressive sophomore effort from Richard Ayoade, as word from screenings indicate. I also enjoy Jesse Eisenberg, especially after The Social Network, and his "evil expressions" are effective. A great atmosphere all around.
