Highlights from The Avengers Twitter chat, plus Super Bowl spot tease

Today THE AVENGERS kicked off a Twitter chat event with director Joss Whedon and cast members Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, and Clark Gregg, revealing very little about the film, sticking with the trend of keeping things tightly wrapped before its premiere.

It was mostly cheeky banter and sarcastic wit, but there were a few tidbits I was able to get involving some of the characters.

Below are the highlights:

When asked if THE AVENGERS movie is taking after the Ultimate line, regular Marvel Universe or a mash-up, Whedon said: It’s a combo platter; classic, Ultimate, plus a little “Richie Rich” and Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

When asked about the rumor of a Spider-Man appearance, Whedon said: There is no Spider-Man cameo. But the Avengers do turn off the dark.

When asked if we are going to see Sam Jackson kick some ass, he said: Fo Sho!

In reply to who he thought was the best Avenger, Jackson said: Black Widow is my pick!

Tom Hiddleston revealed the most about his character when asked if we would see a more mischievous Loki: ENTIRELY. More mischievous. More evil. More hubristic. More delusional. More damaged. More badass.

He also explained more about Loki’s agenda: He doesn’t want revenge so much as identity. Belonging. Purpose. Self-Esteem. Through delusional dreams.

Lastly, when asked if we would see more of agent Coulson in action, Clark Gregg said: Oh hell yes.

And that’s about it. Nothing too new, but I’m sure you’d like to see a sneak preview…of the sneak preview for the Super Bowl, am I right? More Hulk and the addition of flying spacecraft! Check it out and strikeback below!
