Hilarious red-band trailer for 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill proves that the magic is back!

Dec. 16, 2013by:

The red-band trailer for 22 JUMP STREET, the sequel to the TV-to-film adaptation of 21 JUMP STREET has arrived and it's every bit as hilarious and crazy. Starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as two undercover cops who pose as college students to bust up a drug ring, the sequel looks like a total blast, which is what I'd expect, especially with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller back in the driver's seat.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on thefootball team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they dont have to just crack the case they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

21 JUMP STREET was a hell of an underdog when it came out in 2012 and ended up being the funniest movie of the year for many. With a worldwide cume of just over $200 million a sequel was inevitable and from the looks of it this will fit well within the original's wheelhouse. It was the film that changed the tide of opinion for Tatum almost overnight and realigned him in a positive light, which he's worked fairly hard to keep since. Hill, who's continued to cultivate a balance between comedy and drama with flicks like THIS IS THE END and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET feels right at home in this franchise as well. I'm in, boys.

22 JUMP STREET, starring Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Ice Cube, and Jillian Bell enrolls to theaters on June 13, 2014.

Looks EXACTLY like more of the same from the first, which I hated. Glad that Brie Larson didn't join this awful looking mess.

I really liked the first one...

This looks like a horrible cash grab. Recycled plot, recycled jokes, it wore thin during the first movie... Oh boy, we are older than college students, how will we ever fit in?

Idk, this just doesn't look anywhere close to as good as the first one was.

Looks every bit as bad as the first one.

Don't get why anyone liked that movie in the first place. It was just a series of unfunny sequences filled with uninspired cursing for the sake of cursing without any real humor. And this time they cant rely on a johnny Depp cameo to elevate their material. that being said I do enjoy the in-jokes about how unoriginal the idea is and the Rob Riggle cameo at the end.

The meta comment about the "Jump Street reboot" was pretty funny. The first one had a lot of moments I really enjoyed, such as the box of doves and the Peter Pan school play fight. I hope this has something along those lines.

The first one wasn't that funny, and this trailer sucked. Whatever happened to comedies having good writing? Having characters yelling out ass or fuck isn't funny.

Looks all right, but way too recycled

I loved 21 Jump Street, and this does look quite fun. But the story... I mean, aside from college, it seems like the story is the same exact thing as before. Going undercover as younger people to intercept a big drug ring, and then a subplot about how one of our main fellows will be getting buddy-buddy with the kind of group that doesn't like the other one.

Too recycled, based on this trailer.

Is the entire movie just people telling the two main characters things they will be doing?

Looks awesome but...

I kinda wish they didn't show us Dave Franco. That would have been a fun little surprise.

It looks funny, but the negative rating is for the story.

I guess the writers of 22 Jump Street are learning from the success of The Hangover Part II. They're questioning their friendship again and looking for the dealer of drugs again. Also a students wants them to be quite while she's studying, that happened in the first, but a male student said it, and she says they look too old to be there, also happened in 21 Jump Street, but a male student said it. Changing the sex of the student makes it totally original and funny. rme

The first one was an unexpected suprise.

Would rather they don't use all the best jokes in the trailer so am open minded.

It's a formula that works remarkably well for their predicament- undercover drug busting.

Nicely Self-Referential

Hilarious. I'm sold. Opening night. Thoughts: I'm pretty sure all the stuff about underdog, unlikely success and more money is a reference to sequels in general, but their's in particular. Also I've already spotted a goof which will no doubt be digitally erased when the film comes out: Camera crew clearly visible in Ice Cube's sunglasses.

They were recently in the Dominican Republic still filming this, which is impressive that a trailer came out so quickly/already. Looks solid so far.
