Hitchcock featuring Anthony Hopkins gets a poster and 2012 release date

Sep. 20, 2012by: Alex Maidy

So, here is how Hollywood works: big bloated projects like G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and WORLD WAR Z have countless problems and get their release dates shuffled months into the future while small budget projects with awesome casts get their dates bumped up months to be released in time for awards season. Yeah, I think I can deal with that give and take.

HITCHCOCK, the biopic of the famed director starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel, Michael Stuhlbarg, James D'Arcy, Michael Wincott, Richard Portnow, and Kurtwood Smith was slated for a 2013 release but now will be hitting screens on November 23rd of this year! Sure, it is limited release and likely just in time for awards recognition, but that means we will see it sooner rather than later.

Plot: HITCHCOCK is a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville. The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock’s seminal movie Psycho.

I am extremely excited for this movie. I am a huge fan of Hitch and would love to see how they portray his quirks and idiosyncracies on the big screen. Combined with the Toby Jones/Sienna Miller HBO movie THE GIRL, focusing on Hitch and Janet Leigh, I hope there will be new recognition from younger movie fans about the master and his filmography.

Check out the new poster for HITCHCOCK.

Toby Jones seemes to be getting the lower budget biopics. He played Capote in Infamous the same year as Philip Seymour Hoffman's Capote came out. But I think Infamous was a better film though. I cant wait for both versions of Hitchcock's Biopics but I am looking forward to Hopkins version more since well its Anthoney Hopkins and look at him in the poster.

Amazing poster. It captures Hitchcock's style while being simplistic. Really love the knife/tie effect! Hitchcock is an extremely difficult person to look like because his face is so recognizable. People need to look past how much Toby Jones and Hopkins resemble Hitch and just be excited that two great looking biopics about a legend are releasing in the same year. Cant wait!

Hitchcock will be a limited release. Hopefully, Fox Searchlight does not release Nov. 23rd only in New York and Los Angeles. Many of us will visit the arthouse cinema if Fox Searchlight only distributes the film there. At any time though, I shall see this movie. The cast speaks already highly to the film's quality, and the biopic's subject is a legend whom I would like to know better.

Guess I'm the only one that thinks Hopkins looks kind of ridiculous as Hitchcock
