Hobbit game delayed

06.11.2009

Looking to get your meat hooks into a copy of THE HOBBIT on your Xbox 360? Hey, by 2012, the film's release date, you could use that fancy new Project Natal to walk your way through middle earth. But sadly, you're not getting a HOBBIT-based game anytime soon. Director Guillermo del Toro told MTV that because of the tight schedule of the two movies, they won't have any time to devote to the video game. "It’s too ambitious to try and tackle that along with ‘The Hobbit’. We have such tight release dates," said del Toro.

Del Toro could just hand the rights off to whatever game developer and let them develop a piece of shit like the TERMINATOR SALVATION game but, to his credit, he doesn't want a piece of shit HOBBIT game. He wants an awesome HOBBIT game and just doesn't have the time to devote to that game right now. So we'll probably get one eventually but you'll be playing it on the Xbox 720 or whatever funky new console will be out in 2014.

Extra Tidbit: Of course you could always go back and play "The Hobbit" on GameCube...

Agree with Mischief_3lf. I just played the Hobbit game last year and was very pleased and entertained.

Besides, movie-based games suck anyway. They are always weakly done, and are an obvious way to suck up money besides what the movie itself is already taking.

They already had a hobbit game

And it was quite good. The only problem with it was a few glitches with a couple puzzles that could make you have to restart the game if you hadn't been saving on two files up till that point. It followed the book decently and kept the feel of the book pretty well too.

Don't need another hobbit game... and I have yet to see a movie based game beside King Kong that didn't suck (I actually thought the King Kong movie sucked but I loved the game)

The Hobbit on PS2 was pretty cool. Not too worried about a new one though. Movie based games suck anyway.
