Hot Patootie - Fox gives us another look at their Rocky Horror Picture Show

08.09.2016

laverne cox, the rocky horror picture show,

To this point, the only real look we've gotten at Fox's remake of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW set for this fall has been "The Time Warp" or bust. But now that we're getting a little closer to October, the broadcast network is rolling out a little bit more at a time as they start promoting the film more heavily.

Today we've got something new to sink our teeth into, as we get to see snippets of the remake's renditions of "Dammit Janet," "Sweet Transvestite" and "Hot Patootie," and while they don't sound all that bad, it's still the flashy look of the film that has me distracted. It's so shiny and clean, and hardly feels like the work of misfits - which is part of the appeal of ROCKY HORROR. However, I am firmly convinced that Laverne Cox is going to be absolute fire as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. What we see here is more than enough to sell me on the fact that she's going to carry this redo.

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE is scheduled to air on October 20

Personally I don't begrudge remakes. I don't often like them but I never wish them to fail, nor do I judge people for liking them or not. My "red" isn't that I think it's a bad idea, rather that I myself am not impressed and won't see it. I do hope it's enjoyed by many though.

But please, enlighten us with the point you are referring to?

The point is... It's a televised version of the stage musical the movie was based on and new casts and interpretations are a given everytime it's revived

From what I've read, this is a direct remake of the film, rather than another adaptation of the stage play. The film has added scenes as well as other differences from the play. (ETA to add that they're calling it a modern day reimagining of the 1975 film).

Regardless, far as my opinion goes, if I don't like it, I don't like it. For those who do, however, that's great.

Nah

This shiny production compared to the original reminds me of the difference between buying prefabricated ripped jeans, where you have "machine-made" rips on new denim - and the jeans you buy and wear to death until they create their own rips, and the denim has become thin, faded and gnarly looking. If that makes sense to anyone else besides me, I thank you for getting it.
