Hot Tub Time Machine sequel will be steaming up screens this Christmas

Jan. 31, 2014by: Paul Shirey

Hope you're ready to spend Christmas in a hot tub!

Well, in a HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, anyway. Paramount has decided on December 25 as the day to unleash the sequel to the 2010 comedy hit, which stars Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clarke Duke, Adam Scott, Gillian Jacobs, Collette Wolfe, and Chevy Chase. The sequel is once again directed by Steve Pink with the only missing link being John Cusack who will not be returning. The sequel's story goes something like this (according to Variety):

"Story centers on Corddry’s character getting into trouble and his friends firing up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to go back to the past — only to land in the future."

That's the first I've heard of the film being set in the future, which is kind of cool and leaves the playing field wide open for exploration. Could be good times, eh? I dug the first film as it was way raunchier than I anticipated and had a lot of genuine laughs, as well as Jessica Pare's beautiful barenaked breasts and the return of Johnny From THE KARATE KID (William "Cobra Kai" Zabka!).

Plus, it gave us this gif:

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 brings the holiday cheer on December 25, 2014.

Hey, look, it's the Winter Soldier beating up Rob Corddry!

Loved the first one and think it's one of the most underrated comedies ever. I'm disappointed that Cusack won't return, but I'm a huge fan of Adam Scott and think he's a very talented actor and is a great addition to the cast. I just hope they explain in the film why Cusack's character didn't return and what exactly happened in Cinncinnati (reference from the first film).

And I like the idea of them pulling a Back to the Future 2. Anyway, very excited to jump back into the hot tub again.

I Seriously was just re-watching the first one right before I got on here.

I still don't know about this. The original has one of the greatest endings ever put on film. It makes me content with my life every time I see it so I really don't like the idea of tainting that perfection with a sequel. But if they can (and its a million to one shot that they will) capture the sheer brilliance and wonderful love for life attitude of the first film it might be worth seeing.

I also couldn't help but think of the Winter Soldier during during that scene. God I think its perfect casting.

Meh.....

The first movie was unexpectedly funny. The sequel (minus the main actor) will blow chunks.

Seriously, is there anything that Hollywood will just let go of?

Cool to see Chevy Chase is coming back. I hope he has a bigger part than last time. He should get in the hot tub, and end up going on the trip with them. I hope they go to the distant future. Only going a few years into the future really wouldn't be that cool, unless they explain that something drastic happened to the world to alter it. Too bad Cusack isn't in this one too, why is that?

I believe this will be many years in the future because what I have heard is that Adam Scott is playing the adult son of Cusack's character.

The most important question.

Will Crispin Glover be back? He was the highlight of the first one.

Title

I really hope they stick with the idea they had years ago and call it "Hot Tub Time Machine 3 (because Hot Tub Time Machine 2 didn't happen yet)"... I thought that was hilarious and fits perfectly. Definitely looking forward to catching this one in the theatres, the first was great.... white buffalo

this was on tv the other day

It was not laugh out loud funny but still entertaining. Being in the future should help the sequel. I don't think I Robot or The Fifth Element would have been nearly as good if they weren't set in the future. Being in the future adds so many possible plot elements and tons of entertainment just using the setting.

Sounds awesome, the first one was surprisingly hilarious so I'd like to see what they do with it in a sequel. Personally, I was hoping they would go back in time to explain what "the box marked Cincinnati" was all about.
