How does Rick Grimes not see the zombie behind him in this first image from season 4 of The Walking Dead?

05.10.2013

The Walking Dead

I've watched a lot of different television series and every now and then there will be a show that I'll love for the first couple of seasons but after that lose interest. It's not that I end up disliking these shows and there's a variety of reasons why my enthusiasm for a show will drop. What usually happens is I'll end up waiting until the show has finished its run and then go back and watch all the episodes I missed because that passion to watch the show immediately when it airs is just not there anymore. It happened to me with Rescue Me, Lost and Scrubs and now you can add The Walking Dead to the list. Part of it may be me being too much of a nitpicking comic book purist or that I hate dealing with fans that have no appreciation for the zombie genre outside of The Walking Dead.

But that's not the show's fault and while there may have been some changes to the comic that I don't agree with, The Walking Dead is still one of the better shows on television right now. The fourth season of the hit series is currently filming and AMC has released the first image from the new season and it features Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. Sure it's not a spoiler or a great zombie kill but it is good to see Rick is looking (relatively) well.

The Walking Dead

Season four of The Walking Dead will consist of sixteen episodes and the first one will premiere sometime in October.

Extra Tidbit: I've heard about the end to season three and it sounded pretty anticlimactic. How would you like to see the fourth season play out and end?

"...The Walking Dead is still one of the better shows on television right now."

Uh, no. No it isn't. Weak dialogue, inconsistent acting, haphazard plotting, and atrocious characterization don't make for compelling television. It's certainly better than nearly everything on broadcast television, but among cable drama series, this one sits near the bottom.

@Freeden....Yes, I know. It's called an opinion and I was sharing mine. Not once did I say what I said is a fact. Just because millions of people disagree with me, that doesn't mean my opinion is wrong.

There are millions of people that disagree with you about things you like and don't like, but I don't say you're wrong because that's pointless because it doesn't mean your opinion is wrong.

Over 10 million viewers (very high numbers for a scripted cable show) would disagree with you.

True Blood is at the bottom. Bad acting, writing. Hell, everything about it is awful.

Definitely one of the better shows on TV right now...but it's not without its flaws. The writers seem like they have absolutely no idea where the show is headed. The dialogue, quite frankly, sucks. Most characters have little to no development, and most don't even stay consistent. And yes, don't even get me started on the Season 3 "finale". If you take it for what it is, which is usually just mindless zombie killing with a little bit of story, then it's enjoyable. Anything beyond that...and

I thought season three was kind of weak compared to the first two two seasons. I just think the show has lost some of its edge and quality. Plus, the writing is inconsistent sometimes.

It's a good show, but it is terribly overrated. Cue negative thumbs down now because whatever I write will get thumbs down automatically at this point.

Really, I thought season two dragged on the most. There was literally four episdoes where nothing went on the farm. Season three had the whole Andrea/Governor thing going on. Merle basically sacrifices himself for people he doesn't like. You never knew what Michonne was going to do, and the baby delivery scene was the top emotional scene in the series so far I thought.

People who can't realize that we're allowed to have different viewpoints than them isn't something exclusive to Joblo alone. Comicbookmovie, screenrant, aintitcool, wherever you go you'll run into people like that. Best thing to do is not get insulted or take it personally. Keep saying your opinion, there's bound to be people who think the same way you do. I agree though, Walking Dead has something of a cult following where people think it's just absolutely perfect...even though it's FAR from

Thanks SauronsBANE...it's just that there's too many haters on this website. And I feel like The Walking Dead is something that if you even criticize a little bit, you're considered wrong or an idiot.

Who cares about thumbs ups or downs? Say what you think, even (and in my opinion, especially) when it goes against the popular opinion of random people on the internet.

I only liked the first season. Season 2 featured too much dialogue, and season 3 featured too much buildup with little payoff. I gave up on the show somewhere around S3E14 ("Prey") because it degraded to people standing/sitting around squabbling. I'll probably DVR a few episodes into season 4, then fast forward through all the boring junk.

Was pretty disappointed by the season 3 finale, but overall, it was the best season yet. The first half of the season was better than all of season 2 and most of season 1, so it's disappointing they went with such an anti-climactic finale. However, I expected better things from season 4. Thankfully, The Governor is still around, so they're not done with him yet, which is great because he's such a great villain.

The finale of Season 3 was not a disappointment to me, because I don't view storytelling the way most people do. I don't expect there to be a huge dramatic payoff at regular intervals. I like weaving, meandering, realistic storytelling. I think it was a bold act of integrity not to end Season 3 in a dramatic way.

Answer to the article title...

Well, unless he has eyes on the back of his head, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to see it. How many times in this show, has someone stopped to take a breather, just to have a zombie walk up to them out of the blue. I mean really, do these people lack the power of observation and have no sense of their surroundings??

Looking forward to season 4

but yes, season 3 left a bad taste in my mouth, the raid on the prison was weak, and changed im sure to keep the govenor alive, Im hoping season 4 gets a little darker with Carl, and maybe the govenor returns and actually has the real raid on the prision

Season 2 ended in brilliant fashion...picking up...I think when Shane and Rick had that solo mission to get rid of Randle - fabulous episode. It continued at this level until the half way mark of season 3...and then kinda dropped off a bit. I'll stick with this... because well...it's still a good series.

Whilst I have the TWD digital collection 1-75, I've yet to read them so continually have to deal with my friend whose read the comics b*tch about how the series is so different. As I say

As I say to him, if I wanted to see scene for scene what comes out of the comic book, I'd be reading the comic books over and over. Moreover, if they'd done that...we'd never have had some of the better TV episodes that involved Shane.

Comic book superheroes on the big screen, left, right and centre....Arrow on the TV....Zombies on the TV...f**king brilliant!

Obviously he doesn't see (or hear) the zombie because zombies on this show are very stealthy. Branches will not break under a zombie's foot in the woods. Leaves will not rustle. There are tons of "zombies sneaking up on people when they most definitely should have heard something" scenes in this show.

I like, but don't love this show, mainly for reasons stated below (writing, character development, dialogue). I'll admit, at one point I loved the show, but then I started watching Game of

I'll admit, at one point I loved the show, but then I started watching Game of Thrones and got spoiled by it's writing, character development, and dialogue (set design, actors, excellent direction, epic scale, dragons, midgets, gore, and nudity doesn't hurt either). Plus they have zombies.

Actually really liked season three. A few really emotional episodes too like the baby deliver scene and when Darryl saw Merle after the shootout. Definitely an anticlimactic ending, but I think the writers have some good stuff planned for season four.
