Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Aug. 11, 2010

So many now-classic filmmakers started out making movies at home with fake blood. But how exactly did one of the modern masters, Sam Raimi, perfect his recipe for fake blood for the EVIL DEAD movies? We all know about Karo syrup but there's a little bit more to it than that. Courtesy Bruce Campbell's biography (and blog The Movie Miscellany, we now know the secret to the stars. This may be the first and only time we've shared a recipe on JoBlo.com but use it wisely budding filmmakers!

What am I missing?
What kind of non-dairy creamer turns into a "nice paste" with stirring? All I'm getting is a frothy liquid.

Just a Thought.
Love No.7 lol

Hey wouldn't it be easier to just slash and bludgeon the actors for real, I mean Hollywood needs to cull some of the bad actors.

And why stop there, add some directors etc too. lol

I got a recipe from Savini's website that included a tablespoon of dishwashing soap. May the clean up process A LOT easier. I think it's the same mixture for Dawn. Doesn't film well, but looks great for Halloween (or random pranks).

Wow, way to be 10 years slow on this news...
Oh well, I've used this recipe a number of times and it works great.

I also usually add chocolate syrup and quick mix to try and make the karo syrup less clear and a darker red.

Raimi told me at a Drag Me to Hell screening (I sat next to him the whole movie) to use black coffee to thin it and keep it from turning pink on light colored surfaces.
