Howard does Colossus?

While a spinoff movie of our favorite russkie X-Man would be fantastic, sadly that’s not what director Ron Howard has planned. Instead Howard and uber-producer BFF Brian Grazer are planning a remake of the 1970 flick COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT. You remember that one right? The one with the poster that quizzically announced “This Is The Dawning Of The Age Of Colossus.” Nothing like using a riff on 5th Dimension hippie-era song as the tagline for your apocalyptic sci-fi thriller. The film revolves around a government created supercomputer (“Colossus”) that is designed to control our nuclear weapons and protect the US from nuclear attack. That computer links up with a Russian computer of the same design and they team up to take over the world. MUAHAHAHAHA!!! See even computers can be nefarious (in fairness, the computer isn’t trying to be malicious, only deciding that the best way to protect the human race is to effectively lead it). Jason Rothenberg (PROXIMITY EFFECT) will take the premise in the original film and expand on it to create a broader concept. Howard is expected to next direct FROST/NIXON and then the DA VINCI CODE prequel ANGELS AND DEMONS.
