Hugh Jackman compares X-Men: Days of Future Past to The Avengers; Plus new pics from The Wolverine

05.28.2013

Now that our 3-day weekend has come to an end, it's time to get back into the swing of things and today Hugh Jackman seems to be the center of attention.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Jackman mentioned how he wondered if they would ask him to do a cameo in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Then after reading an 8 page synopsis of the script including his role, the actor was quite impressed, "I was like, 'Okay, this is a slam-dunk idea. This, actually, is phenomenal. I think this will be, for X-Men, like The Avengers.' And I think it is..." Then he went on to discuss how it wasn't as easy as it once was to get back into shape to take on the character, "I was a little frustrated because I was nearing the end of a 12-to-18 month physical odyssey and getting ready to have Christmas off - and lasagnes. And I'm, unfortunately, not as young as I was, so I have to start earlier and go for longer. So I was like, Okay, we gotta keep going.' But I'm really excited about it, and I never thought in a million years I would play one character in seven movies."

Moving on to Logan's solo film THE WOLVERINE, we've got a batch of scans also from Empire. There's plenty of focus on the rest of the characters like Viper, Yukio and Mariko. The last trailer for the film made things look a lot better than what we first might have thought. I personally enjoyed the international trailer. While I like Silver Samurai, I'm still trying to figure out the angle that they are taking with the character. When I was younger, he always seemed huge but robotic? I don't know...

For the love of GOD and for the sake of all movies everywhere...

Please, for the love of GOD, let the damn movie come out before you bash the thing!! You know, even a few years back, Joblo never had all these naysayers like it does now....BACK OFF!!! The X-Men movie nor Wolverine has come out yet....we all know you can't judge movies these days by the trailer, its like the old adage 'Never judge a book by its cover'....old but still holds true today, maybe even more so than back when. These are just movies, they are not and never will be the ultimate

The X-Men movie nor Wolverine has come out yet....we all know you can't judge movies these days by the trailer, its like the old adage 'Never judge a book by its cover'....old but still holds true today, maybe even more so than back when. These are just movies, they are not and never will be the ultimate definition of the characters they are representing. At the very least, let the film make it to theaters before you decimate the thing. People were and are working very hard on the thing, the least we can do is give it a chance. Yes, I know they get your $9 bucks at the theaters, but you always have a choice of whether or not your going to watch it; or you could pay for one and theater hop to another...I always have done this since I was 9, I never thought it was wrong..lol...90% of theaters never notice or care.
But if you truly think this movie and others like it, that you have needlessly TRASHED based on the movies trailer or just your TRIED & TRUE ASSUMPTIONS, are going to suck, THEN STAY HOME AND DON"T SEE THE BLOODY THING!! PLEASE STAY HOME!!!
(Now lets see how many 'thumbs down' I get for this...psst, only the very haters I speak of give thumbs down...shh, don't tell anyone)

Yeah, well does Wolverine actually wear a costume this time? Or does he just walk around shirtless again. Or maybe he uses his costume from the previous film.. A Tank Top.

If you're referring to one of the 2 with the mask, it just wouldn't work on film. The mask, that is.

You would need 2 different ones. One that only looks right facing the camera & one that only looks good from the side.

At first I was excited because having the film set in Japan could give Wolverine a nice visual quality - just like how Skyfall filming in China looked cool. But so far I haven't been impressed with the trailers.

I do want to keep an open mind and be cautiously optimistic for these two films, but I just can't feel as excited for Wolverine as Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel or Pacific Rim. From what we've seen, it just feels like a smaller film overall. Of course, how "big" a movie feels is no indicator of quality and I do want to see how the Japan storyline is handled, but there hasn't been anything really wow-worthy so far. What we've seen isn't bad, and it most likely will be better than X-Men

I'm excited for Days Of Future Present, but I am worried about The Wolverine. I haven't been very impressed by any of the trailers at this point.

I'm personally excited for both films despite the whole too many characters aspect and casting Quicksilver just to rub it in Marvel's face. If X-Men: Days of Future Past is anything like the Avengers, than that's great for us fans. But until we see more pictures of the characters in action and more footage, my expectations won't be so high. I'm a die hard X-Men fan and would love to see Singer prove the haters wrong and deliver us another good X-Men film. I mean he has all of the great things

I'm a die hard X-Men fan and would love to see Singer prove the haters wrong and deliver us another good X-Men film. I mean he has all of the great things about First Class mixed with his own two good films so there's no way he could screw this up with so much talent and the fact that he has a great story to tell.

I think The Wolverine looks great and I am actually more excited to see it than Days of Future Past. The trailers have been great and it looks like it has Jackman at his highest form playing the character. I just think too many people aren't giving this one a chance after the letdown that was Wolverine Origins. Jackman wants to deliver a great Wolverine film for himself and for us fans and I think The Wolverine will finally be that film.

I just hope Singer can somehow manage to connect all of the films together and make the timelines make sense because that has been my biggest bother of the films. I'm a stickler for continuity.

So yeah, very excited as a X-Men fan to be getting two new films.

I'm reserving judgement until I see this in theatres,

but the thumbs-up is for Hugh Jackman being a really cool guy and a great actor who gives his all . . . even when the material isn't worthy of his talents.

obviously avengers ruled but lets be honest that was 99% whedon

On paper, Days of Future Past sounds way cooler b/c X-Men >>>>>> everything else that's not deadpool, blade, or batman.

gonna have to wait and see, thanks for the downvotes.

I was looking forward to The Wolverine, but the trailers make it look like more of the same crap that has been hashed out already in X3 and Origins. Days still looks like a bloated abomination.

Yeah fans should be getting excited for 2 great Xmen films instead its more of a peek through your fingers and get ready for the shit show approach. Of course the rabid fanboys could give a fuck if its a good movie or not they just want as many mutants on screen as they can, while taking Syngers cock in their mouth.

Days of Future Past is one of my favorite stories

I am a huge fan of the storyline from the comics so if it wasn't incredibly epic then I would be upset. I wasn't a fan of The Avengers though so the comparison bugs me.

Claws...boo

I'm reserving judgment of the film itself til I see it... but that first pic looks like he's holding knives. They don't look like they're coming out of his hands and I am at a loss as to why they would change this after so many movies getting it right. Small thing, I know. But annoying!

The thumbs down is for what Jackman said.

There is no way this movie will come close to the greatness of The Avengers.
