Hugh Jackman teases Victor Creed and "berserker rage" for Wolverine 3

08.17.2015

Last month Hugh Jackman took to Twitter and asked his fans what they would most want to see in his final Wolverine film. While speaking on the Sydney Confidential podcast, Hugh Jackman made a point of bringing up two of the most popular suggestions he received after making that request.

Jackman, who said that he was "quite heartened by a number of people saying 'please don’t make it the last one'," mentioned that "there were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back." Victor Creed, a.k.a Sabretooth, was played by Tyler Mane in the first X-Men film and by Liev Schreiber in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. As Schreiber was one of the few decent parts of that best-forgotten film, I'd be more than pleased if he got the call to face off with Hugh Jackman in a decent Wolverine flick; after all, Deadpool got his second chance.

As for the second most popular suggestion, Jackman said "if you’re a comic book fan, the words 'berserker rage' came up a lot. If you know Wolverine, you’ll understand." For those who don't know, Wolverine's "berserker rage" is when his animalistic side takes over during combat and leaves him as little more than an uncontrollable violent animal who lets nothing stand in his way. It's a side of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine which we haven't seen much of in the films and, owing to its over the top violent nature, may not be doable in a PG-13 environment.

We have no way of knowing if WOLVERINE 3 will include Victor Creed or Wolverine's "berserker rage" but I believe that Hugh Jackman really does want to give the fans the best possible Wolverine exit he can, so he may very well be passing these suggestions along to WOLVERINE 3 screenwriter Michael Green. James Mangold returns to direct WOLVERINE 3, which will be released on March 3, 2017.

Aside from the possible additions of Victor Creed and "berserker rage," what else would you like to see in WOLVERINE 3?

Berserker Rage

he's been promising this since X2 and every movie...it's nowhere to be found.

FOX will fuck it up somehow.

They destroyed Deadpool in the first solo Wolverine film, then they destroyed Silver Samurai in the second. I can't wait to see what awesome villain they decide to turn into a robot or eviscerate any comic book qualities from this time.

Schreiber was fucking awesome as Sabertooth.

I know he didn't look like the comic book version of the character, but he definitely pulled it off, and was muich more menacing than Tyler Mayne ever was. Bringing Liev back would be awesome!

Sounds cool...

The Wolvrine was a huge let down, the fight scenes were laughable and the CGI tribl...the guys got metal claws for christsakes and you can't make a legit fight scene? Mangold's a great director but adapting a gritty comic book character isn't his strong suit, im really surprised he didn't get called out for the first one, nvm getting to direct the sequel (the intro to wolverine at he prison camp was the only good part) the fight scenes were tame and uneventful and the story might have woked if

These "beserk" scene would be an amazing sequence if this was gonna be rated R, and someone else directing.

If they are doing the old man Logan storyline, they can't use any of the Marvel characters, obviously. So adding Liev Schreiber would be interesting, he was THE only highlight to origins.

Omega Red Please!

I'm not totally familiar with the Old Man Logan storyline that this film may follow, but I'd love love love to see a Wolverine film with Omega Red before Jackman is done.

Pass on Sabretooth, Schrieber wasn't right for the part and Tyler Mane barely said or did anything to indicate he was actually Victor Creed, the inconsistency already drives me nuts. Pass on berserker rage, I don't think emo-Wolverine can do it. And if it takes you 6+ movies to get to one of the main characteristics of Wolverine well...you've already failed. Can they just shove this out already and get it over with so we can recast and maybe get an actual guy who'll do more than cry over Jean

I'm notsure I want Old Man Logan yet.

If this is the last entry by Hugh then it has to have the return of Sabretooth. I'd also love to see the berserker rage but would be ok provided that the film is a worthy final entry for now.

Is it so hard to give us at least one R rated version of Wolverine, they did it for Deadpool & of course people would see it in a heartbeat.

Sabretooth

Wasn't Sabertooth killed in the first X-Men movie?

Did they ever reconcile Shrieber's Sabertooth with Tyler Mane's Sabretooth in the X-Men cinematic universe?

We're lucky to have Jackman playing Wolverine

To have someone so passionate and dedicated to a beloved character like this, and be willing to ask for feedback from the fans, is something really rare and quite frankly special.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, is a strange film in that I don't think it's the pure awfulness that seems to be the general consensus. Rather, I see it as kind of a bipolar film with both spectacular moments and and truly terrible cheese all wrapped up in one. Shrieber's Viktor was certainly part of the spectacular

I do wish that Jackman wouldn't do the Old Man Logan story just yet, but do another story with Wolverine in his prime, and save the Old Man Logan tale for a potential return to the character 10 or 15 years down the road when he's older anyway.

Either way, it's been really enjoyable watching Jackman as Wolverine.

One of the things that disappointed me about Origins Wolverine was that the film had an excellent cast (Jackman, Schreiber, Reynolds, Kitsch, Durand, Huston, etc), but ultimately wasted everyone in their respected roles due to a terrible storyline. So the fact that Reynolds is getting a second chance at redemption with Deadpool with maybe the possibility of Schreiber returning as Sabertooth would really make me excited of seeing the old team back together again.

It had so much potential but it all failed in the end.

Let's be real here, both Wolverine films simply fell apart towards the end.

You know, that's what I originally thought about the second Wolverine film. But I'm finding it has a high rewatchability factor, and that there's many layers to uncover in subsequent viewings.

I'd recommend revisiting it after a time.

I want to see him meet Daken in the third movie. In fact I think it would be a much better plotline to adapt than Old Man Logan. Or they can combine the two. Rewrite the character as Mariko's child and the story happens in a possible future where the grey haired Logan must face his son who is out killing everything he ever hold dear.
