I Want That: The Simpsons Lego set!

In the last few years I've become a bit of a LEGO nerd, which I'm both proud and ashamed of. So it goes. The fun of putting together a bunch of little bricks and pieces is a fine way to pass the time, especially with so many cool properties to choose from, including Marvel and DC Superheroes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and many more. Now, fans of Fox's The Simpsons will have their LEGO dreams come true as the company will release the first ever set of the popular cartoon series, which comes in the form of 2,523 pieces which make-up a house, car, and six minifigures, including Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, and of course, Ned Flanders.

Take a gander:

“We know our fans will love the challenge of building the Simpsons’ family home in great detail and the ability to collect quintessential characters in Lego minifigure form,” said Jill Wefert of the LEGO Group in a press release. Additional minifigures are expected to be released in May when a special "LEGO" episode of The Simpsons will air.

You can pick up the LEGO Simpsons set at your local store (or online) when it goes on sale February 1, 2014 for a hefty $199.99.

Extra Tidbit: What other properties would you like to see LEGO tackle? Some Game of Thrones LEGO's would make me one happy nerd, I must confess.

Very cool! I agree with Hutz35 though that the expressions seem kind of... odd, haha. They all look stoned or something.

That looks pretty awesome. I don't really get the expressions their eyes are making though. It looks like Bart, Homer, and Marge are planning to murder Lisa. And she looks like she knows it.

Holy crap, this looks utterly incredible. It was announced that the SImpsons sets would be released this year but these are the first official images I've seen and they are astounding. I got chills, not even kidding.

As for future LEGO licenses, I guess we have to be realistic and remember the main demographic LEGO caters to, meaning something like Game of Thrones would be out of the question. I have to admit thought that I didn't see Lord of the Rings sets coming, and those have been

I have to admit thought that I didn't see Lord of the Rings sets coming, and those have been excellent so far. I hope LEGO avoids future dud licenses like Prince of Persia and The Lone Ranger. Now that they're doing the Simpsons, I would very much love Futurama sets.

I'm hoping they release an Otto/School Bus set.
I spotted at a toys r us that KNex has a family guy set. It's a shitty lookin set though. Lego is the best.

I'm ashamed I never thought of this idea before, since legos and simpson characters are both yellow. Some Jurassic Park legos would be awesome, as would Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones sets were released in 2008 and 2009 [link] There were also two Jurassic Park 3 sets released in 2001 that were actually part of the "Studio" theme, so they weren't strictly Jurassic Park sets. [link] It's a crying shame that Kre-O is getting the Jurassic Park license this year.

Side note: the coding for links in the comments section is messed up, it turns phrases with slashes and dashes into links and doesn't work for actual links at all.

lego has done some amazing sets. They are a bit too pricey for me, but if I had the cash I would buy all the star wars stuff (minus the prequel stuff of course).
