BEASTS OF NO NATION is based on the novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala, bringing to life the gripping tale of Agu, a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Directed by Emmy Award winner Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), the film stars Idris Elba as Commandant, a warlord who takes in Agu and instructs him in the ways of war. Witness the commanding presence of Elba in the first trailer below.

This film has picked up a bit of controversy regarding the fact it's being distributed by Netflix, although that shouldn't get in the way of how gripping the film looks. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be tuning in on October 16th to watch Fukunaga's latest, but if you'd like to check it out in a theater, it will be playing in Landmark theatre markets that include: New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco and San Diego. Otherwise, it's the smaller screens for the rest of us!

BEASTS OF NO NATION hits Netflix and limited theaters on October 16, 2015.

Why is there controversy that it's being distributed by Netflix? Like who cares, netflix puts out more solid stuff then hollywood could ever. BTW this looks sooooooo damn good too. And M83 for the win. Their music fix's in any movie, I swear.

Reminds me of the novel, A Long Way Gone. Definitely one to catch on Netflix.

Also, what if a Netflix movie gets a nod for an Oscar.

That'll surly make hollywood change its mind and rules for sure.

I wonder how much sweating Cary's teachers did while calling attendance. "Fu...Fuku...nope I'm too close to tenure, how do you pronounce your name Cary?"
