If only these Criterion Collection covers for Drive were real

It's fascinating to me how fan-made art can so often altogether outclass the more official stuff.  And yes, DRIVE was something of an exception to this fact as it did have some very slick marketing art that represented the film's tone very well.  And yet this collection of fake Criterion Collection covers by way of Albotas from Midnight Marauder, "a tumbler dedicated to the art of Criterion DVD covers and film poster," might even be more awesome than said official art.

Check 'em out below, then strike back below that and name your favorite piece of art for the real Best Picture of 2011!

These are all very cool

and for me display just how solely this movie's appeal resided in strained, faux-retro visual gimmickry. It has all the packaging of a great favorite and a hollow interior. (Yep, have at me).

WOW

these are awesome. 7 even has my favorite scene from the movie. But still, the VHS-stylized cover that was released a couple weeks ago was the best

POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Help me understand why that is your favorite scene in the movie. I get that I was supposed to love it and I was really excited when it first started, but it never paid off in my mind. What was the reasoning for wearing the mask? He never interacted with them. He followed them from a great distance. It was night and you could never see his face in the car. He never had to trick them. They never even saw him in that mask except after he drove into their car and they were all either dead or injured. The truth is, he could have been dressed in anything to go drown an injured man in the ocean so what was the point of the mask?

When the scene started, I loved the tone, the music, and the idea that the mask from earlier in the movie would somehow play into the story, but it was totally pointless - unless I missed something. Can you help me understand?

why does Michael Myers were a mask? He just does, he's a disturbed individual, and so was Driver. I don't think there was a "point" to wearing it, unless he wanted to intimidate them, but even that seems far fetched. I just like to think it's the psycho coming out from Driver, but you can have different interpretations of it, whether it's some sort of symbolic gesture of Refn towards stunt drivers or maybe just an homage to Halloween. But by saying there's no point to it, because it "isn't

What's more, it's not the mask that makes this scene, it's the build-up, the music, the cinematography, seeing Nino without a place to hide before death. It's a fantastic scene

Having no real reason or benefit and not ever really addressing it just feels lazy and confusing.

To explain his choice by comparing Driver to Michael Myers is to imply that they are of similar mental disturbance... this is in no way the case. I agree that the scene was intense and had a lot of things going for it, but that detail feels so out of place. I loved the idea, I just didn't care for the execution.

I choose 3. That cover has the true "muted" spirit of Criterion covers and for the film.

Almost makes me wish it hadn't done well at the box office. It would have been easier for criterion to get their hands on the rights.

But it...didn't do well at the box office. Like, at all. A Criterion release is viable. The flick clearly has internet hype and a dedicated fanbase on its side, but the actual numbers were decidedly less than impressive.
