If you really want to know the big twists from Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness, they have been spoiled

Apr. 24, 2013by: Alex Maidy

Okay, so take major caution in proceeding here. I am not going to post the actual spoilers in this article, but I will provide links because I know many of you cannot control yourselves and want to know what to expect from IRON MAN 3 and STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS. As the two biggest summer movies, in my opinion, they have generated a ton of buzz about the twists and turns in their plots, especially STAR TREK. So, as the reviews have started appearing on the Internet, the spoilers have been revealed. Because we are good, honest people here, I will plead the fifth as to the accuracy in either of these spoilers, but you can judge for yourself.

The nature of a spoiler is a bit tricky since it really depends on your approach to watching a movie. Some folks want to go in totally clear of any knowledge, even if the film is based on a novel or a comic where the spoiler would be readily available. For me, I am still able to enjoy a movie even if a twist has been revealed. In the interest of sharing, I figured you might as well take a look if you wanted to. So, without further ado, below are links to articles claiming to have seen IRON MAN 3 and STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.

Do you really want to know the dastardly plot of The Mandarin in IRON MAN 3? If so, read this article that will completely flip the movie's plot upside down if it is true.

Do you really want to know who John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch) is? Do you want to know who lives and who dies? If you do, click here to find out everything, including the ending to the film.

For everyone else, you can wait until May 3, 2013 for IRON MAN 3 and May 17, 2013 for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.

Iron Man. Ahaha! Laughing through the tears though it will depend on how badass the rest of the movie goes. Duh on Star Trek but wow sounds completely dumbass on how it follows through. The thing about his blood is so ridiculous I can't even start.
So now I'm not looking forward to 2 of the big summer hits. Terrific.

if this spoiler is true I will no see Iron Man 3

If this spoiler is true I will not go see this movie.unbelievable that they would take a great character like the Mandarin and ruin him, shows how naive hollywood is.

That so called IronMan 3 twist does not even make sense really? LMFAO & i love how some people on here overreact, I mean really?

I will say however that it seems people do not know how to write a proper review anymore, this site is just as guilty, you can easily write a review without having to spoil a single scene in the film. What I expect in a review is Was the movie good? How were the performances? How was the writing & directing? Would you recommend the film? It's that simple people!

This reminds me of looney tunes back in action when the villain takes off one costume after another with each being even more of a letdown or a bad joke. That's how it often is with plot twists. Some times you start things off with what should be an awesome villain but by the end you just have the typical villain that is as predictable as they come. That's why some of the best movies just pay enough attention to have good writing while others go the extra mile to make it great.

I wasn't really bothered by the twist in Iron Man 3, but I can totally see how fans might not take it too well, especially given the Mandarin's archvillain status. Still, I think Shane Black and co. handled it pretty well. It was a big risk, but I didn't feel like it was a cop-out.

Ok, I'm sensing a pattern here...

"The villians in The Avengers are NOT the Skrulls" - Joss Whedon
"I will never, ever use Robin in my Dark Knight series of films." - Christopher Nolan
"I am playing Miranda Tate. She is not Talia Al Ghul." - Marion Cotillard
"There are *NO* Xenomorph's in Prometheus @ all!" - Ridley Scott
"All the talk of Zod being the villain in Man Of Steel is just wrong & the internet has no idea what’s going on.” - Zack Snyder

Now, I didn't click on either spoiler link (So I do *NOT*

Now, I didn't click on either spoiler link (So I do *NOT* know anything)...but deep down...I believe Benedict Cumberbatch to still be Khan. If J.J. didn't want to reveal his *true* identity before the release...what's wrong w/ that? Now don't get me wrong...I agree that it *does* suck that It's gotten to the point where the filmmakers have to outright LIE in order to preserve their film's secret endings, identities or characters nowadays. But w/ trusty sites like this (and the way JOBLO's Mr. Maidy handled it)...it's nice to know that there's still a force out there making cyberspace safe for the average spoiler-avoiding fanboy. :D

Some folks believe that characters and story lines originally appearing in comics can never change from those illustrated depictions, and just hate the idea of those changes appearing first on film. I'm not one of those people.

I went to iron man 3 last night. Honestly, it didn't bother me at all. At first I was like "no way..." and hated them, but the film has used a whole kind of supported the twist and I ended up loving it.

To be honest

The "Iron Man 3" spoiler feels like a huge cheat. I mean, the trailer and posters almost feel like false advertising now. I understand the need to defy expectations, but when you've built your marketing campaign around something and that something turns out to be a complete fake out?

That's exactly it. Is this the first time this has happened? That we had posters and trailers explicitely telling us who the villain was, only for it to be a trick? To this much of a degree? It's actually very "meta". Like, we were deceived like Tony Stark was. Ben Kingsley IS Ben Kingsley AS "The Mandarin".

Iron Man 3 is going to piss a lot of people off

I'm not going to mention the spoiler in case someone didn't read it but this is just a bad idea. It's a twist that I think isn't necessary and more than anything is just going to annoy fans.

Lego seems to think otherwise

Spoilers don't ruin a movie for me; a bad movie ruins a movie for me. That said, I read the spoilers and I will NOT be speaking of them directly here i.e. saying what they are or explaining them in detail. What I will say is that if the IM3 one is true then Lego missed the memo. Obviously a toy manufacturer is not the definitive in how a movie plays out but their playsets are usually a scene from the film. If the spoiler is true then I don't know where they got some of the IM3 sets from as I

As for the Star Trek one, how has anybody seen this yet? Was there an early viewing, or press showing, or international preview that I missed the news of. I can't speculate on that one other than what I have already deduced from deductive reasoning.

If true

Could go either way. I guess it depends on how it is presented. I think most fans already assumed the Star Trek spoiler was true.

Seriously??

Yes, the "Iron Man 3" twist is ballsy, but NOBODY wants that! It's like building up that The Joker will finally be the villain, and then it turns out he's not real. That's bullshit. Damnit, I was really looking forward to seeing The Mandarin after all this buildup.

WTF Iron Man 3?

Based on that 'twist', I'm questioning whether or not I should still even see the movie. Such a kick in the nuts.

I've seen Iron Man 3 today, and i must say, i thought the twist was very stupid, in a movie that was actually quitte enjoyable. I don't read the comics, nor do i know a lot of backstory on the person in question, so i have no idea if they butchered someones fanboy crushes here. But judging by the movie alone, the twist was very, very weird, and was probably "Politicly motivated". Als come to think of it, it didn't actually change the plot that much, since the endgame of the movie could have had

Wow... the Iron Man twist is very ballsy. I don't see it going over well with the fans at all though. Very deceptive. Could really damage the franchise's integrity. That kind of "twist" certainly explains why Downey might be considering jumping ship.

As for the Star Trek article; I think the first part's pretty obvious, but the latter part sounds like a complete clusterfuck. I really hope none of that is true.
