Image reveals a new Saw movie is coming whether you like it or not

07.07.2016

The SAW series is…yeah. The movies were essentially gratuitous torture wrapped up in some faux-intellectual attempt to shine a light on the cruel nature of man. But, really, they were seven excuses to rip people apart in stunning fashion. Whether or not that’s your cup of tea, it looks like you may be in for a refill, as it appears SAW 8 is scheduled to begin shooting soon in Canada.

Bloody Disgusting has gotten a hold on an image from IATSE873, a “site that supports a union of stage, theater and movie employees/operators,” that details the upcoming shoot for the new film, SAW: LEGACY, is scheduled in Toronto going from September 12 to October 21. Take a look.

Bloody Disgusting also reports that Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (PIRANHA 3D and PIRANHA 3DD) will be writing the script with series founders James Wan and Leigh Whannell executive producing. There is no release date at this time. Speculation is going around as to what the story will be about, but is that really a mystery? What were the last seven about? Is it a sequel? Is it a reboot? And do we really care what they’re “about” anyway? People showed up to the others for a few reasons: blood, gore, guts and puppets. That’s what will make them show up for this one, so let’s not act like this one will be any different. How you feel about that will determine whether or not you’ll see the film. If the box office total of the last film is representative of anything, it’s that not many will be that excited.

I'm game. Saw franchise is pure guitly pleasure and definitely has earned it's stripes as far as being up there next to Freddy, Jason, and all of the other horror icons.

Heh, funny, almost immediately after the last Saw movie came out, I had an idea for a final Saw movie that made up for pretty much all the crap after Saw 3 called Saw: Legacy. I'll likely see it because I've stuck with the series and I am a sucker for horror franchises with great first films and shitty sequel after sequel (Friday, Nightmare, Halloween, etc.). I just hope that actually capitalize on the ideas they've put out instead of giving us an obvious low budget horror that simply cashes in

My idea involved a large number of followers trying to carry Jigsaw's legacy of vigilantism and that's the kind of scale that this movie needs to get to.

Why now?

Everybody knows you wait 15 years or so until people have time to think of the franchise as "classic" before you return with a sub-par revival.

YAWN...

The first three were pretty good. They told a complete story and closed it out, tying up the loose ends in the process. Then rest came out. rehash over and over again. BORING! Another one is definitely not necessary.

The first was a suspense masterpiece. The second was a great companion piece that managed to fool me again. After that, they went to shit. VI had a few moments and VII would have been better as the capper to the original trilogy and left at that. I'd hate to see this return and become a punchline again. Nobody is asking for this. Aren't they already in the process of beating The Conjuring into the ground?

I like the idea of another sequel that can give the series a proper ending (the one in the 7th installment sucked). However, this movie will most likely end on a cliffhanger like all the previous ones. What's the point?

As much as unnecessary Saw sequels are, I like them for sole reason that each sequel starts right after where the previous movie ends. So hopefully this new Saw will continue after Saw 7.

First one was good

Then it was just a steady decline into utter shit. What else do you expect when you churn out a new one every year.

Excellent news. Thought the Saw series was excellent, a lot better than Hostel or anything else recently.
