International trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with Jennifer Lawrence brings the heat

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Okay, don't take that headline literally. This is really just a leaner cut of the first full trailer, but that doesn't mean it's not cool. Of course, opinions vary on that, as THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, the second part of the movie quadrilogy of THE HUNGER GAMES, is a mixed bag for many nonfans of the books. Directed by Francis Lawrence (I AM LEGEND), the sequel picks up where the original left off as the politics pick up in a big way, putting our heroine, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) back into the games she just emerged victorious from. Overall, this looks like a much more visually stylistic and bigger-in-scope film than its predecessor, with a larger cast, larger canvas, and larger stakes.

Get hungry for the games!:

Here's the synopsis:

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

Some are predicting that this will be the biggest money maker of the year and I'm inclined to agree. Never underestimate the TWILIGHT crowd and with that throne left empty (thank the stars!), it's basically THE HUNGER GAMES' to lose. With Jennifer Lawrence riding high on her Oscar win for SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK and the rapidly growing fanbase for the franchise, I see some major domination on the horizon for this one.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Sam Clafin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Amanda Plummer, Jeffrey Wright, and Alan Ritchson, continues the love triangle of death marathon on November 22, 2013.
