International trailer two-fer: Brad Pitt's Killing Them Softly and Del Toro's Mama

10.18.2012

Today see's the release of two new international trailers for both Brad Pitt's KILLING THEM SOFTLY and Guillermo Del Toro's MAMA.  The former features Pitt as a mob enforcer/hitman on the trail of a pair of theives who robbed a card game, while the latter is a horror flick starring Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who are tasked with raising two feral children who may be haunted.  Well, they are, let's face it.

First up is KILLING THEM SOFTLY.  Directed by Andrew Dominik, the thriller stars Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, and Sam Shepard.  It is set to be released on November 30, 2012.

Check it out:

Next is MAMA, the Guillermo Del Toro-produced horror film, directed by Andres Muschietti, and starring Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, which is set for release on January 18, 2013.

Here it is:

Both of these films look good for their respective genres.  I'm most interested in KILLING THEM SOFTLY, but MAMA looks like a good scare fest that will benefit from Del Toro's involvement and a goth-like Jessica Chastain.  Between the two, I have a feeling they'll each bring the necessary elements that make crime thrillers and horror flicks engaging.

Which would you rather see if you had to choose between the two?

Killing Them Softly has already been released in Australia and I went to see it straight away. I loved it. Definitely not for everyone though. Beautifully filmed with great acting and an awesome soundtrack. Brad Pitt's introduction is fantastic. There's also a really awesome slow motion scene.
Andrew Dominik - fantastic director.

Mama...

Damn, looked really good until they introduced the supernatural element. Went from refreshingly original to recent horror cliche blandness.
