Interview: Haywire Star Gina Carano!

Jan. 18, 2012by: JimmyO

The moment I walked in to interview ex-mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano, the conversation quickly turned to peanut butter. It was a strange yet fun way to meet somebody like Gina. She is beautiful, funny, and she can kick your ass in an instant. And so she does in Steven Soderberghs latest action drama HAYWIRE.

In the film, Gina plays Mallory Kane, a tough black ops super soldier that is on the run. She has to take on a number of Hollywoods elite leading men including Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum. And she does so with style, grace and a raw fierceness. You really dont want to mess with Mallory Kane.

Yet even though Carano is one of the most popular MMA fighters, she is an absolute delight to talk to. Heres to hoping that we see more of Gina in the future Angelina Jolie better watch out because Ms. Caranos the real deal when it comes to a modern day action star.

HAYWIRE opens this Friday at a theatre near you.

What a sweet chick.

I really want to see Haywire. She seems to have plenty of charisma so if we can get a legit action star out of her I would be happy.

as much as i love carano i went to see this tonight(was released tonight in uk)and it totally blew...the ending was bad not to mention tacked on and half assed but you know a lead up to a sequel was to be expected. the action sucked...how many times do we have to tell hollywood we dont want 2-3 second cuts and close up shots...yeah she can definitely act and she is stunning but its not gonna save the phoned in performances from the entire cast who are basically just doing this for the paycheck

and the last ten minutes basically explains to you like your a 5 year old child the whole plot and how she was set up...if you didnt know it by now you really need to lay off whatever drugs/alcohol/meds you are on because it is brainless...how soderbergh came up with this pos ill never know

Wonder Woman?

I dig Carano, and enjoyed this little glimpse of her real self. Seems like a sweet girl for someone who could snap my neck like a twig... Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I think she'd be a great choice for a decent Wonder Woman project (emphasis on "decent"). She's got the looks, the physicality, and can pull off the Amazon warrior character. She's got my vote...
