Is Aaron Eckhart the new Liam Neeson? Looks like it in the trailer for Erased

Feb. 28, 2013by: Eric Walkuski

Aaron Eckhart has gone rogue in ERASED, a globe-trotting spy thriller that looks like a combination of THE BOURNE IDENTITY and movies where Liam Neeson beats the hell out of people like TAKEN and UNKNOWN. Eckhart might be filling Neeson's shoes here, as a man who goes on the run with his daughter after his former employers at the CIA target him for assassination. Yes, the government is once again being jerky like that.

One of these days we'll get a movie where the covert government conspiracy is just a surprise birthday party!

Directed by German music video helmer Philipp Stoelzl, ERASED goes like this:

When ex-CIA agent Ben Logan discovers that he and his daughter have been marked for termination as part of a wide-reaching international conspiracy, a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse ensues as Logan tries to outsmart his hunters and uncover the truth.

The film also stars the luscious Olga Kurylenko in the Joan Allen role, as well as Liana Liberato, Neil Napier and Alexander Fehling. It opens here in the states on MAY 10th; it opened internationally last fall.

Extra Tidbit: The flick was originally titled THE EXPATRIATE.

May I suggest The Game?

Oh and check out Two-Face's cameo at around 01:06.

The expatriate

Saw it... and I think is more like Harrison Fords FIREWALL than Taken or Bourne. Anyway, decent thriller (but an average one) that need a little more budget. Aaron is good as usual. Its much better than TAKEN 2 and other thrillers released early worldwide like THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY. Like a 6.5 / 10.

After his amazing performance in The Dark Knight, I was hoping Aaron would have a better career going for himself. Got my fingers crossed something good comes his way soon.

There is no New Liam Neeson...

...there is no Old Liam Neeson. There is just The Liam Neeson.

Actually its ok

I watched this a while ago, and its not that bad. Not the Bourne rip-off that many of you think it is. Well I say that, but then towards the end it there are some similarities. Quite a good little conspiracy thriller......Oh wait it's not a straight to DVD?

It looks entertaining enough, but it's no different or more exciting than the Bourne films or the Taken films. Eckhart is a great actor, so hopefully he gets some bigger and better roles coming his way in the future.

Eckhart is headed for straight-to-video territory.

A bomb Depp movie, supporting role in a generic Gerard Butler Die Hard knockoff, the atrocity that was Battle in Los Angeles. I loved him in Dark Knight and he's been solid in earlier films as well, but I feel like he's headed down a bad path with his film choices.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves. Neither of those films were STD quality films. Plus, he was awesome in Battle of Los Angeles.

And Olympus Has Fallen looks fun as hell.
