Is Bradley Cooper set to make his directorial debut on a remake of Kokowaah?

02.28.2013

What most actors really want to do is direct, and of those actors, what they really want to do is direct themselves. That what it sounds like is in the cards for Bradley Cooper, recent Oscar nominee and current A-lister. As the man has already conquered most of the genres in film - comedy, drama and dramedy among them - it seems only natural that Cooper make the leap behind the camera and conquer the directing world as well.

According to Deadline, Cooper is eying a remake of the German comedy, KOKOWAAH, which starred "Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz" himself, Til Schweiger. The film was the #1 box office hit in Germany in 2011, and a sequel was just released overseas.

Here's the synopsis:

Kokowaah explores the relationship between two men – carefree bachelor Henry and devoted husband and father Trevor – when they are forced to re-evaluate their lives after discovering the reality behind the paternity of Trevor’s 8-year old daughter Maddy.

Cooper has already signed on to star in the film, which he'll produce via his 22nd & Indiana shingle; Warner Bros. will distribute. It's not a certainty whether or not Cooper will direct, but Deadline says it's one of "several" films that could act as his directorial debut. The actor will be seen soon in THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES and THE HANGOVER PART III.

He currently has no plans to cease being maddeningly handsome.
