Is Julianne Moore preparing to enter The Hunger Games?

Deadline is reporting that Julianne Moore is being eyed for a big role in THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY (Parts 1 & 2), which will serve as the finale of the series. Moore would play President Alma Coin, “a manipulative politician who figures brightly in the finale as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) becomes a symbol of rebellion against the autocratic Capitol government.”

Director Francis Lawrence is still in the process of finishing up THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE for its release this fall, as well as readying the full trailer to debut at Comic Con, but apparently Lionsgate is keeping their eye on the franchise prize, making sure that THE HUNGER GAMES flow continues.

Here’s a rundown on Alma Coin:

President Alma Coin was the President of District 13 and the leader of the rebellion against the Capitol by the people of the districts of Panem. She is the secondary antagonist of Mockingjay, after Snow and the Capitol. She was first introduced when Katniss Everdeen met her in District 13.

Thus far, THE HUNGER GAMES has rallied some massively talented actors to its stable, which is something that didn’t happen for the TWILIGHT franchise, of which it’s often compared. With Jennifer Lawrence‘s stock already up to its peak and a bevy of awesome co-stars like Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Toby Jones, and Stanley Tucci, THE HUNGER GAMES franchise has shot well above the typecasts usually associated with YA books.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is set for release on November 22, 2013, with THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 1 set for November 21, 2014 and THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2 finishing up on November 20, 2015.
