Is NBC bringing back David Lynch's Twin Peaks?

Jan. 3, 2013by: Alex Maidy

Take this news with a grain of salt since rumors of TWIN PEAKS returning have been circulating for years. Blastr is reporting that David Lynch has been having meetings with NBC and on the Internet that means it is definitely related to creating a third season of TWIN PEAKS.

Of course Lynch could be doing pretty much anything at NBC. With his voice work on Seth MacFarlane's THE CLEVELAND SHOW to his hilariously deadpan recent guest role on FX's LOUIE, Lynch is becoming recognized in the mainstream again. NBC has been trying to reposition themselves with some original series lately and getting something from Lynch guarantees it will not be like anything else on network television.

TWIN PEAKS was an ABC series that lasted for two seasons and followed an FBI agent investigating the disappearance and murder of Laura Palmer. It starred Kyle McLachlan as agent Dale Cooper and featured a cross-dressing David Duchovny, alternate dimensions, lumberjacks, and the best coffee ever. Definitely not a show for everyone but a great show nonetheless. It was followed up by a movie prequel, FIRE WALK WITH ME.

Blastr reports rumors that the third season could take place a short time after the events of the second season, with the Cooper/BOB scenario still playing out, while other reports say that the show would take place 25 years after the original, although it would resolve the plot threads from back then.

I would be down for the 25 years later scenario to make up for the lost time between the end of the second season and today. But I would take more TWIN PEAKS however Lynch wants to provide it.

But...

I would be just as happy with a new show by him as well.

That's funny. I just checked this show out from my local library recently cause I had never seen it when it was new. Still have to watch season 2. If it's a faithfull and good remake I say go for it.

NBC WILL RUIN THIS

NBC as it stands is a joke. They'll find some way to cram in some leftism and maybe some has been from SNL who's thinking aligns with what they accept and their agenda to brainwash people. This is the worst idea. NBC is the bottom of the barrel for TV now. I'd watch a homeless man taking a shit over anything that fucked up sheeple network pollutes people's TV's with.

So, your argument is NBC is bad because it's too liberal? Not because they have a pretty bad record recently with primetime dramas. No, it's because they're a bunch of pinko commie terrorist sympathizers is why they'd mess this up.

And here I was, just thinking that NBC just made shitty programs, and their goal was to sell advertising time to their sponsors, who all buy ad space on the other networks also. I'm so naive.

Ya VERY naive. Blind too.

And yes my argument is NBC sucks not because it's too liberal but because it's WAY too liberal. As in its part of a group of networks that should be called The Democratic Party Of America's Propaganda Network.
Pinko commie terrorists? You think barfing out stale jargon is effective? It's because they're blind, stupid, sheeple representative of the half wits ruining America. It's not an agenda to employ communism. That would require you morons actually know what

It's more so about self important asshats who desperately want to control everyone though they don't know how, why, and what their goal is. Sort of like the joke currently calling himself president.
NBC and MSNBC have a piss poor record of anything aside from convincing stupid people to think how they tell them to.

stay away from network-TV!!!

major networks are just too risk shy for his kind of work. Last time he tried he ended up with an unaired pilot for ABC. (okay, with lots of additional shooting that ended up being Mulholland Drive, which I love, but still...)
Why not approach HBO? Showtime? AMC? FX? They seem to be much better places for him. Eager to release bold, uncompromised and edgy material that wins them awards and attracs subscribers while much less dependent on ratings and not nearly as nervous with the axe when a

If he really strikes a deal with NBC I will be constantly on the edge fearing that they will cancel it midseason.

GREAT!

This would amazing. They would have to bring back the same theme song and music from the show. Not changing it at all. And I wonder if Jocelyn ever got out of that doorknob. (SPOILERS!) :)

Man I want it to be true. I don't know how they do it without jumping time ahead though unless they recast... But I mean how can you recast agent cooper? I don't know how or if this will play out but consider me piqued.
