Is the Red Dawn remake finally going to see the light of day?

4 years agoby:

It's fair to say that the majority of people have forgotten about the RED DAWN remake. We'd just like to pass on this film because of how useless it is. The Chinese were the enemy instead of the Russians for this version...yeah, cause that was a good idea. But then it was changed to North Korea being the enemy because there was a fear that the Chinese government would get pissed.

Well, it looks like the film will finally see the light of day. FilmDistrict is finalizing a deal with MGM to get the remake out next year. It's taken a year for someone to finally decide that they wanted to distribute the film.

FilmDistrict launched INSIDIOUS and most recently DRIVE with Ryan Gosling (awesome soundtrack btw). I just feel like RED DAWN should have been left on the shelf regardless of whether Chris Hemsworth aka Thor is in it or not.

The whole shabang was just poorly planned overall. Good luck with all that, FilmDistrict.

Hollywood: All Asians Are the Same

You know, a few CG effects and no one will tell the difference between the massive, high-tech Chinese Army and the notoriously starving, psychopathic but otherwise pathetic North Koreans. *facepalm.

If it was me, I'd set the whole thing in inner city Detroit, following tough neighborhood kids (at least half of them black) and have it also take place in the 1980s with the Soviets and Cubans invading. 'Four Brothers' vs. the commies. We saw how the farmboys fought, lets see how people resisted

Better idea: Someone remakes the shitacular Chuck Norris movie Invasion USA, which has the US being invaded by hundreds of terrorists from every country we don't like...Cuba, Russia, China, Libya, etc. and the whole crisis is solved by roundhouse kicks to the head and a complete lack of charisma or acting talent from the hero.

Invasion by North Korea? I suggest a more believable scenario where Canada invades the U.S. as a result of years of pent-up anger about Rush still not being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Stupid film to remake, the first was a product of it's time.

A war with China would have actually been believable as it's looking inevitable in the next few decades. North Korea invading would only be viable if they first wiped 2/3+ of the US population with a bio/chem attack.

I hope not, the original was bad enough.

lookin forward to it

the concept is awesome, love the North Korea spin on it but apparently the movie doesn't focus that much on the actual conflict as much as it does the fight this group goes through (ala Battle LA how it wasn't actually about the war as a whole just a groups fight)
