Is this the possible fruit of Disney and Marvel's future?

Ever since Disney acquired Marvel, the hope has been simmering that one day we'll see a collaboration between the two mighty entertainment empires. While nothing is yet officially in the works in terms of melding the talents and resources each team possesses, today's image is something of a hopeful ode to what might one day be.

Entitled "What Are You Building, Stark?" the art comes from 25 year-old Brazilian 3D artist Victor Hugo, and it is indeed impressive.  And cool.  And wondrous.  And really makes me ache for for a Mighty Marvel-Pixar Team-Up.  Oh, and you can click the picture for a much bigger version! Do it.  The detail is fantastic.

Victor Hugo Iron Man

Here's something from Hugo on how the piece came to be: The original idea was to reproduce one of the “Armor Wars” cover, but it looks that I’ve changed a little my mind during the project. This one was a awesome challenge, because I’ve never modeled a car and neither an Iron Man armor (ok, I didn’t modeled exactly the movie armor, but something, ahn… “between”). Another good challenge was to give some tries on 3ds max Hair and Fur – and damn, it is quite impressive! =)

Extra Tidbit: Note: the image was labeled "ironmanpixar," so I'm not just projecting my Marvel/Pixar team-up dreams onto art that appears to be in that style.

All you did was take an image that's been floating around since last year and make up a bunch of details about it...

The biggest news with this image is for more subtle. A Black Mesa/Aperture Science team-up!? In brewing!? That's amazing! But yeah, great piece of art. Would be really cool to see Pixar do a little bit of Marvel.

I know this may come off as snobbish but why would Marvel want to down-grade their game to kid's animation only??? I think Pixar is great for what they are but can't compete with live action. Unless they take a property Marvel isn't going to use and breath kid's animation life in to it, Marvel should pass. Maybe Ant-Man would be perfect Pixar material but none of the "big guns" please.

You've seen the final 20 minutes of Toy Story 3, right? Regardless of ratings, the incinerator scene's action and emotion nearly trumps anything seen in any Marvel PG13 film.

to be fair, "super hero squad" is 'kid' animation, and also the hybrid of marvel and disney, an awful bastard son hybrid.

what I'm guessing

is that this will be the next generation of Marvel movies, after the current one fades out. Not to say that'll happen anytime soon but eventually it will, and obviously they'll want to reboot it and keep it fresh, instead of just doing another live action series with a different actor in the role (Cap, Iron Man, Thor, etc.) they could go this route and gain more of the child audience with a bit of a lighter tone... hey, it could work. Then after that fades out expect another reboot with new

Then after that fades out expect another reboot with new live action actors which would seem new and fresh again after audiences experiencing the animated side for years... Otherwise they'll all be going the Amazing Spider-Man route which judging from the buzz not too many care about or see a point rebooting it with a live action movie with a recasted cast so soon

Can you imagine an Incredibles/Marvel mash-up movie. That would have the potential to be quite epic.

That would suck because The Incredibles and Marvel are totally different.

Pixar-Marvel team up wouldn't happen because Disney don't control Pixar. Also I'd like to think Pixar have more sense...

No, no, no. Pixar are their own entity - insisting on their own plots/character's etc, their own HQ and their own human resources dept. Disney DON'T have a say.

For example, Disney wanted to get rid of Mr Fredricksen in 'Up' because they didn't think an old man toy would sell. Pixar told them to fuck off.

Plus, read your own article where it says 'merger'...

Awesome

The possibilities for this are amazing. We can all dream about Pixar doing an awesome ensemble picture with ALL the heroes taking on a global threat, (Secret plus New Avengers anyone?) But a more realistic approach would have a sub-studio supervised by Pixar make direct to video flicks about more obscure Marvel teams and characters. Like DC animation (which is great) we could have fantastic CG films of Dr. Strange or Iron Fist. Personally, I'd love to see Uncanny X-Force.

That's a really nice piece, and I prefer it to Victor Hugo's other well-known works such as Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
