I think this would be good James Franco is becoming one of my favorite actors working today and Anne Hathaway has more comedic chops than people give her credit for.. As far as his nomination goes I think it might hurt his chances of winning but at this stage in his carer a nomination would be great for him because he will undoubtably win one down the road... And I have to say my fav host is Billy Crystal he just always does such a great job

My favorite moments were with Billy Crystal. The man made me laugh so many times. Second best would go to Whoopi.

This is going to be the prettiest Oscars ever!

DUR. That's not a bad thing though. I love Franco and Hathaway('s tits). As far as the comedian usally hosting thing goes, I think Franco is funnier than Crystal, Goldberg, and Martin combined. Maybe it's because they're from such a different generation than me, but I've never found their stand-up to be funny.

Odd. But interesting.

I agree that they ought to make a play to get Billy Crystal back. The man was consistently funny and great every single time he hosted. After him, I'd ask Ellen back. Her bits where she tried to slip a script to Scorsese. and snapped a picture of herself with Spielberg, were great stuff. It's not rocket science, AMPAS. Funny wins.

Franco is funny and Hathaway is pretty and can sing.

Billy Crystal will go down as the best host in history, but he's not interested in taking it on anymore. They ask him every year and he turns it down. "Too much work" or something.

First of all, Franco is a very good actor but his profile isn't big at all: 127 Hours is the first major project he had to carry on his own and it didn't break any box office record. I would expect an established star to host the Oscars, not an up-and-coming talent.

Secondly, not only does he have a good chance of being nominated for best actor but Hathaway also has some buzz for her performance in Love and Other Drugs. Could you see BOTH hosts winning an award?

James Franco is gold so I know he'll be awesome, and his profile is HUGE right now, he can effortlessly jump from comedy to drama and he's equally good in both.. anne hathaway is alright..don't really care, women are never funny

Now I love both of these people. And I'm sure they'd be GREAT hosts. But I think there actually is something about hosts NOT being nominees. So, at least in Franco's case, he ought to refuse if he's got a shot at the gold. Hathaway doesn't have quite the odds, so she could pull a Hugh Jackman I guess. But this just sounds kind of crazy.

It was my fist time watching the Oscars when David Letterman hosted, so he'll always be my favorite. I hear though that some people didn't like him.

It would be kind of awkward if he won or didn't win and be the host but I respect both of them but I think it's a pretty random choice. A good random choice would be like Betty White I think she would of been hilarious and her co host would be Cloris Leachman, that would of been funny. I think this pair is going to go the Hugh Jackman route and go all broadway with dance numbers I mean this isn't the tonys people! I hope they prove me wrong and be a laughing riot.

In Oscar's history, it was not uncommon for an actor, a director, or a team of actors and directors to share hosting duties. Sure, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal made it into a comedian's thing, but it wasn't always hosted by a comedian every year. Both Franco and Hathaway have great comedic timing, and can handle the more serious parts as well. I'm okay with it.

I kind of like the way they are heading towards. They are trying to appeal to a younger crowd and this will certainly catch the attention of the teens. I love Franco and think Anne Hathaway is alright so I'll watch it gladly. I still think Billy Crystal was my favorite host

I think both will do a good job hosting, but this seems more like a desperate plee to attract a younger, wider audience. Personally, I'd give the job to someone like Robert Downey Jr., who's a bit more well known and has proven himself a bit more with comedy.

While I enjoy Franco and Hathaway this is such a cheap and obvious move to appeal to younger viewers when really they should just shorten the damn show. Get rid of the needless tributes to montages, interperative dance numbers and the technical awards that aren't cinematography, editing or sound. Also, the only part that people want more of are the acceptance speeches yet they shamefully play those off to make way for incredibly unfunny sketches.

Wait, isn't Franco guaranteed a nomination this year for 127 Hours. What if he loses? Does he just stand there awkwardly? That would blow. I do think they'd both be decent hosts (though I'd prefer someone like Steve Martin or Billy Crystal) but maybe a year when they won't actually be nominated for an award.

I bet the screen actors guild started to draw straws at their last meetings and the two losers had to host. Has the Oscars fallen that far? I like Franco and Hathaway but this seems silly. I wonder if Hathaway will pull Hugh Jackman on to stage during her musical number like he did to her a few years back?
