Well, my "need to see" factor just went up on this one.

I was already intrigued with 127 HOURS because of the true story of climber Aron Ralston. Then you throw in factors like Danny Boyle, James Franco, some jaw-dropping scenery, and then I'm instantly hooked.

There's also another reason I'm interested in this--the first hour supposedly contains no dialogue. Will Boyle and Franco be able to captivate an audience for that long? I guess we'll see.

If this trailer is any indication of how the movie is going to play out, then I will buy my ticket on opening day. Franco has the charisma to carry a movie like this. I also think that when it comes to the time of helplessness and desperation, he will be there keeping us holding on minute by minute. When I heard the sound of a broken limb, I cringed. Obviously it's safe to say that the trailer did something for me.

"127 HOURS is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s (James Franco) remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued. Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Clemence Poesy), family, and the two hikers (Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) he met before his accident. Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet? A visceral thrilling story that will take an audience on a never before experienced journey and prove what we can do when we choose life."

He did have a cell phone on him when this ACTUALLY happened. He had no signal. He used his phone to film goodbye message to his loved ones in case he didn't make it. Danny Boyle is supposed to be one of the only people to have seen them.

Sunshine fucking owns and 28 Days Later kicked all kinds of ass. Slumdog was a little too much for me and I still found it pretty interesting so of course I'm game for this.



Btw fuck the beginning of that trailer without sound.. i thought my speakers weren't working and almost blew my eardrums out.

Interesting Fact
James Franco was cast as Joseph Gordon Levitt's character in Inception, but had to drop out. Would have been interesting to see what Franco would have brought to the table.

Franco is easily one of my favorite actors and the same goes for Boyle as a director. And having read the book this flick is based on I'm stoked for this. Here's hoping it gets them (particularly Franco) to the Oscars.
