James Gunn has told Marvel about his "great idea" for a Moon Knight film

With the films of Marvel Cinematic Universe continuing to perform very strongly across the globe, there's no reason why we won't be seeing an entirely new crop of Marvel heroes making their live-action debuts in the years to come. One Marvel hero who GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 director James Gunn hopes will be included in that future is Marc Spector a.k.a. Moon Knight, the skilled fighter and detective whose strength, endurance and reflexes are enhanced depending upon the phases of the moon.

James Gunn was asked on Twitter whether he would be including Moon Knight in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and although the director said that the character wouldn't belong in GUARDIANS, he did reveal that he has a great idea for a Moon Knight movie.

Gunn obviously wouldn't reveal what that "great idea" was, but he did say that he had told Marvel all about it. Unfortunately, as the man said, he just doesn't have the time to pursue it at the moment. Even so, it's nice to know that a Moon Knight movie is on Marvel's radar. If a big-screen Moon Knight project doesn't become a reality, it's also possible that the character could get his own Marvel/Netflix show as rumours of such a series seem to pop up every so often. James Gunn's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.

What do you folks think? Would Moon Knight work better as a Netflix series or as a feature-film?

I love Moon Knight so much. The thought of James Gunn at the helm, and this on Netflix? Mini-orgasm.

Netflix is the only home for Moon Knight. A theatrical movie would have to water down the character way way too much. I'd love a full series or even just a shorter special 2 or 4 part series would be great. Than if that does well, we get a full season afterwards.

Agreeing with you !
The whole multi-personality aspect of the character can't be rightly exposed in a 2hours movie. And it would need to be rated R... I don't see any Disney-Marvel film getting the R treatment anytime soon !

I love the MCU but no thanks. There is such thing as too much. Maybe Netflix.

It would have to be rated R, lots of blood, violence, and I kind of want him to be played by Karl Urban for some reason.

Actually I like that choice. He'd have to hit the gym some, but he's definitely got the chops for this role.

Moon Knight is my second favorite character in Marvel. i would LOVE this character to be included in the MCU, but given the tone of the movies I think it would be a better fit for Netflix. Don't get me wrong it would be amazing to see on the big screen, as it would be SO different if they stay true to his literal insanity and multiple personalities. It could be the single most different Marvel project to date. He's as brutal as the Punisher, rich as fuck, and as crazy as Deadpool. And he might

The ways a movie could go would be insane...literally.

Moon Knight is also my 2nd favorite Marvel character behind Werewolf by Night. I'd love for both these characters to get their own films.

Moon Knight is one of the only Marvel properties I can see myself getting excited about. I'm just burnt out on the MCU. Everything is feeling and looking the same now.
