Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis have even more Horrible Bosses

Jan. 4, 2012by: Alex Riviello

The screenwriters behind HORRIBLE BOSSES have just closed a deal on the sequel. John Francis Daley (Sam from "Freaks and Geeks"!) and Jonathan Goldstein are hot after the film became a surprise hit, and Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis will be returning. The studio is in talks to have director Seth Gordon return, as well.

The first film starred the trio as friends who decide to kill off each other's bosses (Criss cross), played by Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrel and Kevin Spacey. No word on what the plot will be for the sequel just yet- could their job situations have not improved?

HORRIBLE BOSSES cost $35 million dollars (or half of that last godawful Adam Sandler flick) and grossed $117 million domestically, $209 worldwide, so this is really a no-brainer.

pretty fun

but goddamned sequels! It's just bound to be like Hangover 2 - a rerun of the first one's plot. What's gonna happen, they get new bosses and whoah - they're all aholes.

No need for the sequel, and now the first is not going to be as surprising anymore. Gosh!

1- this was better than bridesmaids...

2- i don't see the appeal of Jason Sudeikis as a ladie's man...

3- doesn't need another installment.

What can they possibly do for a sequel? The bosses become douches again?

I liked the movie. Granted, it could've gone darker, but the cast was pretty solid and I laughed enough to consider myself a fan. If they bring back Bob Newhart I might have to give this one a chance. But I'm not sure how they plan on sequelizing it. Newhart and Aniston though, they could sell me.

Everyone in the cast annoys me so i didn't bother to even watch the first film, i guess someone must have thought it was funny if sequel is on it's way

Don't bother commenting if you don't bother to watch the movie to formulate and opinion.

There's never been a comedy sequel better than the original. (Unless you count Toy Story movies as comedies)

I quite enjoyed Horrible Bosses but like many quality comedies before it, a sequel is completely unnecessary. I know with many films, sequels aren't actually needed but they end up having a good plot and maintain a good flow.
The Hangover 2 was recycled material and milking the franchise and I don't see Horrible Bosses 2 being any different. Couldn't they just invest in a completely different film and take a chance on something "out there"?

I liked Horrible Bosses, didn't love it, but it's certainly among the funniest movies of 2011. Anyone else tell me anything funnier?? Mainly because I'm looking for decent comedies from 2011. Anyhow, they probably shouldn't do a sequel to the flick. Look at Hangover 2, that was atrocious.

The original is a horrible movie (no pun intended). I laughed maybe twice. I continue to lose faith in the film industry as they continue to make crap films.

Don't know. Thought the first one was good but too long. And Day's whiny voice got really annoying really quick. We saw an OLD-school comedic actor introduced as Bateman's new boss at the end so I'm guessing they'll feature him . . .

Not the funniest movie ever, but a passable 100 minutes of entertainment. But the main question abounds- what the hell is the plot going to be about? The only thing I can think of is that word spreads about their antics and they create an underground business to help people kill their bosses or something? Meh...

So I got to be part of the collective in thinking that bridesmaids was overrated, but I know I'll get nothing but thumbs down in thinking that despite an awesome comedy cast, this movie was not that funny

I agree with you. Movie was awful. Only good thing about it was Jennifer Aniston. Everything/everyone else was terrible. This is a movie you should feel proud of getting many thumbs down for.

didn't see horrible bosses, but I disagree that bridesmaids was overrated! I thought it was pretty funny, and better than the hangover!
