Jason Clarke in talks to star in the remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary

Whether pacemakers are ready for it or not, Paramount Pictures is continuing their effort to remake the Stephen King classic PET SEMETARY, for the big screen. In a recent report shared by The Hollywood Reporter, it was announced that Jason Clarke (MUDBOUND, ZERO DARK THIRTY) is in talks to star in the horror film about death, resurrection, and the consequences of not being capable of letting your loved ones go.

Set to be helmed by STARRY EYES directing duo Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, the remake of PET SEMETARY has seen its most recent draft written by Jeff Buhler, who will tell the tragic tale of a doctor who moves his family out of the big city and into the country. Not long into settling in, the doctor then discovers that he's moved his family near a pet cemetery that rests on an ancient burial ground. Soon thereafter, the man and his wife lose their toddler sun to a nearby auto accident, an event that changes their lives forever. Rather than give the child a proper burial, the grieving man buries his son in the nearby cemetery, where it is resurrected into a vengeful and demonic shadow of its former, innocent self. 

Clarke will play the role of doctor, a part played by Dale Midkiff in the 1989 original movie.
