Jason Schwartzman to join Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz in Tim Burton's Big Eyes

Remember the next Tim Burton project I told you about titled BIG EYES starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz? Right. How could you forget? Another member has been added to the cast, and he is actually one of my all time favorites-- Jason Schwartzman.

It also states that Krysten Ritter was already on board, but doesn't mention how recently she was hired. She also a favorite of mine from both BREAKING BAD and DON'T TRUST THE B IN APARTMENT 23. Yes, I watched that. Ritter is the Burton type. If you've seen her, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't I've included one of the many gorgeous photos of her from the Esquire "Me in My Place" photoshoot.

Waltz and Adams will lead the film based on the true story of, "Margaret and Walter Keane, whose paintings of large eyed children became one of the first mass marketed art sensations in the 50s and 60s. Those prints sold in gas stations and every five and dime store across the country. While Walter was the marketing genius, he also took the bows for doing the brush work. He was a full fledged celebrity, a regular on the TV talk show circuit. His shy wife was the actual artist in the family. When they split and she tried to get her due, he painted her as being eccentric, and they ended up in court. There, a judge finally provided them with two easels and ordered them to prove it. Walter’s art reputation went down on the canvas when he begged off because of what he said was pain in his arm. She whipped up one of her trademark big-eyed works.Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (ED WOOD, THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT) penned the script.

Krysten Ritter is set to co-star as Margaret's free-spirited friend and confidante DeeAnn, while Schwarzmann will play a San Francisco art gallery owner named Ruben.

I don't know about Krysten being Burton's type but she's certainly mine.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I want this very much to be a return to form for Tim Burton. It's a breath of fresh air to see him team up with someone besides Helena Bonham and Johnny Depp. Good as they are, we don't NEED them in every movie. Also, Amy Adams is a great talent, and Christoph Waltz has rocketed up there with Daniel Day Lewis as one of my favorite actors. Please: no CGI, no schtick, just a good story that stands on its own, perhaps with a dark twist. I'm counting on

This actually sounds exciting. Something that isn't a weird gothic representation of a fairy tale! I have been wanting him to get back into creative filmmaking since he made Big Fish. So excited for this movie to come out!

WHAT?!?!?!?!

A Burton picture I am actually excited about? Something that isn't a remake or that he can't drown in bad CGI?

Too fucking right, Burton. This is where you belong. Cut the shit.

Agree about Ritter being "the Burton type". She's got a bit of that Winona Ryder thing going.

What a refreshing, novel idea for a Tim Burton film. And it's nice to see that he is taking a break from having Depp in this one.

How about casting Michael Keaton in this. I mean he was Beetlejuice after all in one of Burton's best films.

So, with the writer of Ed Wood? Firstly, now it all makes sense. And secondly, this is going on my list of most anticipated movies, because whenever Tim Burton makes a movie set in some semblance of the real world (and I include Big Fish on that list) it's a must-see. And anything Christoph Waltz does is a must-see. And Amy Adams and Jason Schwartzman are some of my favorite actors...And I'm done.

Nice to see Burton taking a break from working with his wife and Depp. I'm always hoping for Burton to get back to making films I love. He was one of my favorite director's when I was a kid.
