Javier Bardem and James Franco rumored for Clash of the Titans sequel?

The remake of CLASH OF THE TITANS managed to reel in some impressive talent, so it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. is trying it again with the follow-up WRATH OF THE TITANS (as it’s apparently going by).

The sequel to the mythological monster mash is gearing up, and according to a Production Weekly tweet, the studio is aiming at people like James Franco and Oscar-winner Javier Bardem for roles (Franco as Agenor, Bardem for war god Ares).

These are obviously just “wish list” names for the moment (and Bardem honestly doesn’t really seem like a match for fantasy material, while Franco will probably be an even hotter property post-127 HOURS), so we shouldn’t expect anything to firm up. But if true, it’s a good sense of the development direction. And after Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, why not?

Jonathan Liebesman (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING and upcoming BATTLE: LOS ANGELES) is directing, and is shooting in 3D as opposed to the substandard conversion of the first movie. Presumably, original star Sam Worthington will return for more hacking of practical and CG creatures.
