Jessica Jones investigates her past in new trailer for season two

The hard-drinking, hard-punching Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has been through a lot. Not only has she helped save the city in THE DEFENDERS, but she also has a deep, dark past she can barely recall. In the trailer for the new season, Jones will dig into that past and unearth darkness she never thought possible. Luckily, she’s great at punching or else she would be in big trouble.

With this new trailer we see Jones much in the same place we did in the first season: trying to drink herself and reluctant to call herself a hero. In this new season, we will learn more about how she became the super-powered person she is, and that means facing her demons. We saw a tease for the returning Kilgrave (David Tennant) at the end, who will probably manifest in some sort of hallucination. More exciting than that though is we saw a tease for Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor) making more of a transition into a sidekick role, coming closer to her Hellcat persona.

The last few Marvel seasons have been on the weaker side, with IRON FIST, DEFENDERS and the recent PUNISHER being met with mixed and divisive reactions. Certainly a downslope for the earlier, critically acclaimed seasons for Daredevil, Jones and Luke Cage. Hopefully JONES season two can gain the kinds of reviews the first did, and with a strong performance from Ritter as the complex Jones, there is a very good chance of that happening.
