If you didn't get around to checking out Jim Mickle's adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's COLD IN JULY when it was making the rounds on VOD then you should rectify that when the film hits DVD and Blu-ray next month.

MPI has dated COLD IN JULY, which stars Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), Sam Shepard, and Don Johnson, with a September 30 DVD and Blu-ray release, and we've got the cover art to share with ya below. Having seen it I can tell you that COLD IN JULY is a tense thriller that deserves to be seen and while it isn't exactly horror, this revenge thriller is quite riveting nonetheless. But don't just take my word for it – our own Chris Bumbray heaped praise on it with his Sundance review right HERE.

The official synopsis goes like this:

On a hot Texas summer night in 1989, family man Richard Dane (Dexter’s Michael C. Hall) awakens to the sound of a burglar breaking into his home. In a panic, he shoots the intruder dead—but this nightmare is only just beginning. Although he’s hailed as a small-town hero, Dane soon finds himself fearing for his family’s safety when the burglar’s ex-con father, Ben (Sam Shepard), rolls into town; hell-bent on revenge. However, not all is as it seems. Misled by the cops and desperate for answers, Richard embarks on an increasingly berserk, bloodstained quest to discover what really happened that night.
