Joaquin Phoenix leads Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot trailer

01.16.2018

Gus Van Sant has been a notable name in the Hollywood industry for years, directing Oscar-winning hits like GOOD WILL HUNTING and MILK, and now he’s back with another movie about a man going through an intense emotional struggle in DON’T WORRY, HE WON’T GET FAR ON FOOT. An adaptation of the biography from cartoonist John Callhan, who became a quadriplegic after a car wreck at 21. The first trailer is here before the movie debuts at Sundance this weekend, and Joaquin Phoenix looks to give yet another captivating performance as Callahan. Take a look above, and try not to tell me you aren’t now eagerly awaiting the movie. Everyone in this movie is a treasure!

Here is the plot synopsis:

After Portland slacker John Callahan (Joaquin Phoenix) nearly loses his life in a car accident, the last thing he intends to do is give up drinking. But when he reluctantly enters treatment – with encouragement from his girlfriend (Rooney Mara) and a charismatic sponsor (Jonah Hill) – Callahan discovers a gift for drawing edgy, irreverent newspaper cartoons that develop a national following and grant him a new lease on life. Based on a true story, this poignant, insightful and often funny drama about the healing power of art is adapted from Callahan’s autobiography and directed by two-time Oscar® nominee Gus Van Sant. Jack Black, Carrie Brownstein, Beth Ditto and Kim Gordon also star.

DON'T WORRY, HE WON'T GET FAR ON FOOT debuts at Sundance this weekend and then hits theaters May 11.
