Joaquin Phoenix, Sofia Coppola & more win big at Cannes

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Thanks in large part to its elegant French setting the Cannes Film Festival is easily the fanciest event in all the land. Like other galas and affairs some of Hollywood’s biggest stars grace the festival to watch and promote some of the hot ticket films of the year. Some of those films just got a lot hotter now that the winners of the festival have been announced, with names like Joaquin Phoenix, Sofia Coppola and Diane Kruger walking away with top honors. Coppola’s win is even sweeter now that she’s the second woman in the festival’s 70-year history to take home Best Director (with Taylor Sheridan taking the award in the Un Certain Regard category for WIND RIVER).
