JoBlo.com will finance/produce its first full-length feature film entitled Billy Trigger!
I consider myself a very lucky person because I get to wake up every morning and work all day long in the industry that I love: movies! Granted, it's a website about movies but still! Back when I founded JoBlo.com in 1998 as a hobby, I never expected it to lead anywhere, but 14 years later...it's my career and I'm happy with that. What's the old saying, "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life."
Back in the 90s, I also used to write screenplays of my own (I've got 4 unproduced scripts in my closet, sigh), as did my best friend John Fallon (aka the Arrow from Arrow in the Head). Now unlike me, John has actually managed to keep writing screenplays (7 of which have already been turned into full-fledged motion pictures!!) and this year we finally managed to get all of our ducks in a row and greenlight the first fully financed JoBlo.com film entitled BILLY TRIGGER!
The film was written by John Fallon and will be helmed by the best genre director working in Canada these days (my humble and biased opinion, of course) Christian Viel. We're already on the fast-track to production with four of the leads already cast, a teaser poster created (see below) and locations scouted and ready to rock. The film will start to shoot in mid-October.
But our greatest surprise and source of joy happened recently when we were lucky enough to have the legendary Fred Williamson cast as the lead baddie in the film! I can't tell you how cool that was for a small little Canadian production like ours.
You can read more about the film in the official press release below, or follow us on the official blog or either Facebook or Twitter, and I will also post some big updates on JoBlo.com from time to time because I'm excited about the film and hoping to share some set diaries, videos and other cool shit with you here. If you're not interested in the film or its updates, please just ignore these articles but please don't turn into a troll and start dissing our movie just for kicks. Despite running JoBlo.com and Arrow in the Head, we're just a couple of movie fanatics and we are just super-happy to have this opportunity to create something cool. Hopefully some of you will follow our development and eventually get to enjoy the film.
JoBlo.com finances its first full-length feature film Billy Trigger
The action film will be directed by Christian Viel (Deaden) and stars Fred Williamson (From Dusk Till Dawn), John Fallon (Saw 2), Matthew Bennett (Battlestar Galactica) and Pia Metni (Mirror, Mirror)
(Montreal, Canada) September 18, 2012 Popular movie fansite JoBlo.com will be financing its first full feature called Billy Trigger written by John Fallon and to be directed by Christian Viel. Principal photography on the film will begin in mid-October, with JCB Productions and Movie Seals Productions, which is a return to the genre for Viel and Fallon, who made Deaden together in 2006.
Iconic American actor Fred Williamson will play Pops in the film, the leader of an Irish mob which employs Billy Trigger, the hitman played by John Fallon, who is also co-producing the film. Joining them are Matthew Bennett playing Bruno the expert assassin, as well as Pia Metni who will portray Catherine, the lead actress and love interest in the film.
Official synopsis: Irish mobster Billy Trigger has been the OBrien familys number one enforcer for three years now. And for good reason: he is cold, calculating and relentless and has never tackled a job he couldnt finish. His life is trouble-free and solitary and consists mainly of three things: loose women, doing the work and cashing in. Thats until Pops, the head of the organization, hands him his next assignment. Trigger is tasked to look over Pops young mistress, Catherine, while hes away. Of course, nothing goes as planned and Trigger ends up on the wrong side of Pops esteem... What happens when the best in the business is pitted against the business? Place your bets!
