JoBlo.com's Indiana Jones 30th Anniversary Tribute!

Jun. 24, 2011by: Paul Tassi

This year is the 30th anniversary of the beginning of one of the greatest film franchises in history, the Indiana Jones series, and on this special occasion, we here at JoBlo decided to make a little tribute to the man and his movies.

He really is one of the greatest cinematic heroes in history, and though some were bothered by his recent resurgence in a fourth film (and soon enough, a fifth), but I don't think it makes the character any less iconic.

Here's a tribute we put together showing the best of Indy's adventures. Check it out below, and go watch RAIDERS tonight.

Extra Tidbit: Buuuut I still recommend not doing a fifth one.

Just how AWESOME are the Indy movies?

Every few months or so after work, all my buddies & I get together, start drinking, pop in an Indy movie (The Last Crusade being our 1st & favorite) and about halfway thru the movie (once we know that we're all pretty much annihilated) out of the blue, anyone can just fucking sucker punch someone(in the face, balls..don't matter) & stoically utter: "NO TICKET!"

Yeah...Good Times. Long Live Indiana Jones!

Well done

Even the Crystal Skull shots were incorporated well. Despite a weak story Harrison Ford still owned as Indy. I only wish your tribute was longer. The march started up and then it was over : ( Still, great tribute! : )

I didn't care for the fourth film...

...but it still kicks all the Star Wars prequels' butt. And Temple and Crusade were better than Matrix: Reloaded and Revolutions. I guess Spielberg is the difference-maker here.

The guy at RedLetterMedia suggested that J.J. Abrams should've directed the SW prequels; why not let him sub Lucas on the fifth Indy film?

None of the sequels hold a candle to Raiders, but Crystal Skull is just as good as any of the sequels.

Even though I am a kid of the 90s, Indiana Jones was my childhood. I was Indiana Jones for Halloween like three years in a row. I watched the movies so much that my parents took them away when they wanted to punish me.

I don't count the fourth abomination.

Even with the weaker fourth movie, Indiana Jones is in the top 10 film franchises of all time, maybe top 5. I'd actually prefer a fifth movie over half the [link] we're currently getting from Hollywood.

"It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage."

I thought the 4th one was good, but not close to Temple of Doom's level. I'm ok with a 5th one, and I hope it's better than Crystal Skulls.

Superb!

I make sure to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark multiple times a year, but I haven't seen The Last Crusade in a couple. Makes me wanna check 'em all out (even, maybe, the fourth, which I feel I could write a whole essay on the pros and cons thereof).

It's the little things that make these movies so enjoyable. That's true of most movies, actually, but few come as close as these movies.

I Love These Films To Death

I've never had a film grab me like Raiders of the Lost Ark. John Williams' score and the action of the films are so perfect that it's almost unreal. I have to admit that I've "seen" the fourth film but I didn't "watch" it so I only know what happened via the Interwebs. I do plan on watching it when the quadriology lands on Blu-Ray someday. I think if they do a fifth film Lucas needs to be on another continent when they're writing the script.
