JoBlo.com's Top 10 Trailers of 2010: The Social Network

01.03.2011

Welcome to the 10 Best Trailers of 2010. This is the 10th Annual List dating back to 2001 and my sixth year bringing it exclusively to JoBlo.com. If you visit the Trailers Page frequently, you should know my tastes quite well. Keep coming back for the rest of the year and we'll slowly be rolling out the Top 10 one by one. Sometimes great trailers make great movies and other times they make you see awful movies. Don't hesitate to strike back below if you think I must be completely nuts. (Also, keep in mind that some trailers that you've seen this year were on last year's list.)

# 1 THE SOCIAL NETWORK

For months, this movie was the laughing stock of the film world. Readers and critics were boggled that the talented David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin could team up for a movie about... FACEBOOK?! What the hell were these guys thinking? Then, a few short teasers came out and the ears of film fans started to perk up. Finally, this supremely ballsy trailer arrived and most of the web was singing a new tune. The cinematography is gritty and dark, the music is haunting, the characters are dynamic, and the dialogue blasts through it all. “MARK!” was ringing in my ears for months to come. This trailer is an amazing piece of work on its own and even more astounding considering the negativity that was directed at this movie prior to its release. A truly classic trailer.

THE REST OF THE LIST SO FAR:

#10 KICK-ASS Red Band Trailer
#9 BURIED Trailer
#8 THE TOWN Trailer

Yep, thought so (as did many of us). It was definately a good trailer, really showed that this was gonna be a film to contend with and much more than the "facebook movie" that most thought it would be. Im not so sure it's the best trailer of the year, but it's very well done.

When I first heard about the movie I wasn't into it. Then hearing Fincher and Sorkin were involved interest peaked. Then the trailer hit and I was blown away. Which is probably why the film ended up number one on my top ten list this year

Yeah it had to be this one

Great list, good to see the right trailer won. You are absolutely right in terms of how this trailer made us desperate to see a movie that we thought of as a bit of a joke when it was first being talked about.

Good List But...

Where the hell is the Harry Potter trailer? It might have been the most epic trailer I've ever seen

Agree!

First I wasn't interested in this movie. I love Finchers work, but a movie about Facebooks just sounded lame...but then I saw this trailer in cinema and it blew me away! After that I really wanted to see the movie and saw it on it's realease date.
And so it became my #2 favorite movie of the year!
