Jodie Foster will direct George Clooney in the thriller Money Monster

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Jodie Foster is set to direct a new financial drama titled MONEY MONSTER and has enlisted another actor/director to play the lead in the film; we are talking about George Clooney of course. Clooney's character is described as an established financial expert and TV host famous for insider tips, who winds up being held hostage on-air by a man who lost everything after taking the TV guru's advice. The kidnapper wants Clooney's character to make his bad investment to shoot through the roof by the end of the day, or be killed. Ratings soar as viewers are hooked in by the live crisis.

This sounds like a Jim Cramer character who you might remember from a TV show on CNBC called Mad Money where he gave people horrible money advise and was often got called out on it only to shrug and say "look over there" while he ran away (probably). Regardless, that scenario in the movie makes for some must-see TV right? It’s a little far-fetched though; Clooney is far too charming for anyone to hold him hostage. He’d end up having a beer with you before you pulled out the darn gun.

This will be Foster's fourth directorial effort after LITTLE MAN TATE, HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, and THE BEAVER. Considering Foster is one of my favorite actresses (CONTACT in greatly underrated), and one talented director, I can't wait to see what she comes up with for this one.
