Joel Kinnaman to make a killing as your new Robocop

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Joel Kinnaman in black and whiteWell that was fast-ish. Less than two weeks ago we reported that Joel Kinnaman (“The Killing,” SNABBA CASH) had been offered the lead in the ROBOCOP reboot/remake/re-whatever it is, and now it is being said in  a Deadline Exclusive that he has accepted the (robotic) part(s).

Kinnaman, originally set to make his debut in a big studio movie by playing Lancelot in Dave Dobkin’s ARTHUR AND LANCELOT, is probably still unknown enough that he came on the cheap.  Which is great for all involved, as it means Kinnaman gets his shot to star in what director Jose Padilha hopes will be an action-character piece and the studio gets one more way to keep costs low (a problem which effectively killed ARTHUR AND LANCELOT).

Having never seen “The Killing” (there are too many great shows to catch up on – “Mad Men” and “Game of Thrones” are where I am right now) I have no idea as to Kinnaman’s acting abilities.  Any insight out there in cyberspace?
